Lyrics
We spent so many years together
Wasting our time
What’s been left is that you bother me
‘Cause you exist
And I can see
All your stuff around me

Where have you been last night
While I have watched TV
I’m sick of all your lies
You’re cheating hard on me
The bunch of boys you fancy
I smell them on your skin
You’re spending all my money
On cheap perfume and gin

(underlaid voice)
Alles was du liegen lässt, erinnert mich an dich

Tu me prends comme un connard
Et me traite comme un bébé
Je te dis que j’en ai mare
D’être ton pousse-café
Ça pue comme un bordel
Ton corps plein d’eau de toilette
Tu bouffes mes caramels
Fume toutes mes cigarettes

You loser, so lazy
All day you drive me crazy
You cheater, you liar
I’ll put your house on fire

Listen to me, lovely boy
All the trash you forgot to take away
It will be thrown out of the window soon
All your lovely stuff
That is disturbing me
It will be thrown out of the window now
That’s what I do, lovely boy
That’s what I do, lazy boy
You lazy boy, you lazy boy
You are so damned lazy

You loser, so lazy
All day you drive me crazy
You cheater, you liar
I’ll put your house on fire

Oink, oink, oink... Du bist ein Schwein
Kotkotkotkot... Toi pauvre poullet
Oink, oink, oink... Du bist ein Schwein

reminds me a little of...
a Canadian band that I love - Metric (at least I think that they are Canadian, but I definitely love them). It's got a great vibe with the vox going on. I especially like that it switched languages, I think that's a great "trick" (for lack of a better word) that works very well!

yep
Walter and Wildcat tricked me too when I first heard the vocal part! I couldn't even imagine those 3 languages in a same song working so well :)

Jeeeeeeezz.......
Darkwave opera... man oh man this gets under my skin! Superb job you three! Datafunk, what a deliciously dark and demented unrelenting chunk of music! Walter & Tanja, you two sang/spoke this with real gripping intensity! There were a couple of places where the mix got a little muddy and the voices were swamped by echo and music, but that was pretty minor. Also, English language quibble, I'd change the lyric to read "I'll SET your house on fire". But overall this is a real Tour de Force... and felt like it was taken from a not-yet-written modern opera. I love the way you dance into different languages, as if you are evading the other person by slipping into a different tongue, and/or attacking them at a different angle. Lots and lots of GREAT work here, totally faved and DLed, wow!
ttfn,
Drakonis

hey
thank you very much for you time listening. I like your idea : darkwave opera, it rocks. would love to see something like this at the theatres, with a 10000 watt set up :)

maybe this track is the first act of our DW opera, who knows!

and next time, I won't screw the main vocal part ;-)

Echt gut!!!!
Congratulations to you all - this is really excellent. Love the multilingualism and datafunk's backing is also perfect. This is possibly the most interesting collab I've heard here! I'm almost speechless here - you've outdone yourselves - Jan will love this. Europa rocks!

European darkness...
...is the coolest darkness there is :)

Nice, dark and almost eerie background and very fitting vocals. I really loved the different languages. A great demonstration of the versatility you can find on this site.

Very nice work!

Souxsie and the Blitzkrieg
Great vocal style and treatment. I like the sound of the bass, nice and brassy! This is terrific... like a duet melding Bowie, Souxsie and the Banshees, and Falco. Lots of character and sort of a Goth vibe.

There does seem to be a lot of high EQ in the vocals. Maybe more of a high cut on the reverb/delay could soften them?

datafunk said 3984 days ago (November 23rd, 2006)
hey!
I love Souxsie and the Banshees!

talking about the vocals, I think you're right... I did the final mix a bit in a hurry and had to do it 'headphones only'.
I may consider doing it again since I realized that the 'doubled vocal' efx on final vocal part was a bit too much too. Still a little work in progress maybe but I had to post it today.... well, you know the story :-)

thanks for your time listening!

Working european partnership ...
... maybe, never before a french, britsh and german (speaking of language) collab has worked so well. A powerful Rock/Pop song with an 80ies Wave and a slight german NDW retro touch. The three voices go together very well. I like it very much.

merci Alex
I don't know if any german, belgium and french have ever collaborated altogether for a song indeed... but I will inquiry :)

this track (well, for my part) was very much inspired by some darkish-coldish-newish wave bands. I think Winter is a great time for those kind of melodies. and winter has just begun.

has a sort of new wavey mysterious sound to the vocals, in some parts reminds me of the vocalist from garbage. the male vocals are interesting, sort of have that dark german metal/goth sound to them.

New European Threat
I'll forever use this extraordinary piece of music as an example of how great a collaboration can be - if you are fortunate enough to have such an arsenal of talent to pick from. There's not a single thing I dislike about this song. I'm absolutely blown away. It's seems to be such a straightforward and unforced effort. Love it.

Please don't attempt to move your troops into Russia. World domination probably isn't as great as it sounds. Stay here and dominate Macjams. Oink, Oink, Oink.
