Most of the praise and honour goes to Drakonis - he made the ember glow.

Very Electric &mdash 11/24/06 - 11:03:32 PM
You never disappoint... your treatment of Ember is intriguingly unique and enjoyable throughout. The deconstruction in the middle where the different themes begin to pile up on eachother in different keys and temporally shifted... that was dizzying, but in a good way. The odd disconnected dissonant strings that floated through here and there, the wandering synths, the trippy syncopated beats, and your skill at keeping everything spinning but still be crystal clear... sweet! Very nicely done! I see you softened the initial thump drums, that helped. Lots of nice super-bass, but everything tastefully done.
ttfn,
Drakonis

Your compliments are overwhelming - when I came here to MJs I never thought I would ever do a version of your song. Because I heard so many fantastic version of it - but your help and the support that I got here made be believe I could give it a try.
I want to say thank you for all the time you spend to write those very helpful comments - you really deserve a medal, a monument or something like that :)

To all those who read this: go to Drakonis's page and listen to his version !

And don't forget to check out some of these Embers I talked about (if you didn't do that already).

so smooth - flowing - wind gently blows through my room - and yet, my vision begins to blur - where am i? hold on, don't let fear intrude: breathe. - and now my eyes are focussing again on the core of my being - ah, here we are - all it floatingly all around all through the space all knowing time and - the idea floats away - into the night...

hmmm - it's starting to sound like a bar-b-que to me!!! heheheh - nice verson robbie/lobbie - always interesting to hear how the bluedragon has been fiddled with - oophs - no fiddle!!! ;) ty for sharing xoxxo

Thank you for your comment Caroline ! &mdash 11/26/06 - 02:10:30 AM
No this is no barbecue - and no fiddle either :D
Plus the lobster was not the one to be cooked - he was the one who 's cooking.
And it happened on a electrified ember - so no danger of being burned ;)

very enjoyable &mdash 11/25/06 - 05:08:17 AM
Rob, very very tastefully done. Long but listenable. Moreover: extremely ejoyable. I love how the structured electro drums intertwine with the dreamy synth pads. It feels like I'm daydreaming on a train...

Drums ! &mdash 11/25/06 - 05:41:11 AM
Yeah, really enjoyable. Very clever use of drums, tasteful while I'm not, since the German's 70's craze (Klaus Schultze, Popol Vuh, and son on), anymore a great listener of "musique planante", as we named it en France at these time...

Re Drums &mdash 11/25/06 - 11:33:43 AM
I usually don't like drums on ambient pieces, but this was a effective mix of ambient sounds and light drumming. Thanks for sharing.

The drums are the part I added :)
It is based on a loop split in parts and used in different drum kits.

Ahhh yes...Electrified Ember... &mdash 11/25/06 - 10:14:26 AM
I thought I smelled something cooking. MMmmmm! The Lobster is creating new goodies! Yes, this is a nice new perspective on Drak's tune. I was anxious to hear how this would come out after being electrified. I like! The middle has a kind of cacophonous nature, but still manages to never skip a beat, and stay on track. The drums add a certain, "old jazz bar" type of personality to this. Very cool and very unique! Nice job Rob!
Talk to you soon!

The middle part is the high point of this tune - that is where two "Embers" come together maybe you notice after a second listening that there are different instruments used.
The bell for example is a different in the beginning and the flute too even the strings.
Only a certain drum pattern is repeated and even the combination of drums - but that is not so easy to hear.
Glad you enjoyed my version !

Luv the Embers ... &mdash 11/26/06 - 12:35:46 AM
I could almost picture tribal dancers doing their "thing" to the beat of a different Ember .... this one is a D/L and right into my growing Ember Collection ... I am still so amazed how one piece of music can be interpreted in so many different ways by so many different people ... isn't MUSIC GRAND INDEED! Welcome to the Ember Club! I liked the way you changed up the ending .... nice.

Love the tune. Great work. Jarre meets Ultravox - in a good way! Excellent use of the drums.

I know it is a little long - but this is caused by my way of putting two "Embers" together (inspired by the last work on a drakonis tune).
Glad you dig this version.

Beautifully done &mdash 11/27/06 - 12:15:07 PM
Oooh, the Ember is still shining after all this time?

This version is terrific ... understated but assertive. And very atmospheric. Excellent work both of you.

Very warm and toasty for a slightly cooler English autumn evening nowhere near the beach ...

A lot of these praises must go to drakonis for creating this song and allowing us all to do our little attempts at it.

The Ember franchise is alive and kicking! You've done wonders here, preserving the integrity of the original whilst making it your own too. Very tastefully done with subtle percussion and swirling harmonies.
