Description
With the Advent season coming up on December 3rd, I decided to post one of my favorite advent hymns; "Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus". Actually, I'm not posting the lyrics, only one of the tunes that I know this hymn can be sung to, which is 'Hyfrodol'. This arrangement is for flute, oboe, guitar, piano and bass. I started writing it last year at this time, and had a difficult time getting everything just right. I've taken a few months to let it sit, and worked with it some more, and I'm quite satisfied with this particular arrangement. Enjoy the holidays!

You did wonderful! :-)
Kristy, you did a wonderful job of arranging this. All the instruments work together flawlessly, so that I can rest on their comfortable bed of harmony and concentrate on my Lord.

Thank you and God bless,

Rick

Thanks, Rick
I'm glad you got to be the first person to comment on this piece. It took awhile to pull the instruments together, but they ended up pretty well blended, and I enjoy meditating on the text even though the words aren't included. Happy Holiday season to you!

I'm glad you liked it.
Since advent is a different type of anticipation than the 'kids waiting for Santa' thing our culture is used to, I'm glad you felt this was a peaceful song.

Thanks for listening.
I'm glad that the hopeful, sweet vibe came through for you. There are many tunes that the words (written by Charles Wesley, I believe) can be sung to, but this is my favorite. I really enjoy your music here on MacJams, too.

A treat
I am sure glad that I ran into this. Beautiful arrangment.
Love the bach type harpsicord almost feel. But it has a nice pop twist to it.
This really a pleasure to listen to kristyjo.

Terrific!

Hi, Bill
I enjoy your own 'twists' on the classics so I'm glad you enjoyed this version of a classic hymn tune. Thanks for listening.

Kristy
I know you don't know me, but this was very much like the music we heard in Ireland when we were kids, only better.
God Bless

I've never been to Ireland, but I love Celtic music and the music that's been inspired by the emerald island. I'm glad you enjoyed this!

oh..this brings memories......
for vespers, my family and friends (several children amongst them) would get together and play instruments: piano and strings, and this hymn was always the favorite for us to play together......beautifuly played....and praise God!
