Description:
A song from Amokopera. Our hero is on holiday in Turkey. As he lies on the beach the chill out music wafts across the sands and he drifts off to sleep and is possessed by the spirit of the east.

Good beat &mdash 11/26/06 - 06:49:51 PM
Another excellent piece. Is there a short outline of this opera you could post on your page so I can get a feel for how the sequence of events and songs go? This is starting to look like a very interesting project you have going here. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks - much appreciated &mdash 11/28/06 - 05:50:50 AM
I've just added some more details of "opera" on my profile. I'm not sure it gives you much more but .....

Too short ! &mdash 11/27/06 - 08:56:12 AM
Starts as a Suicide song (rock minimalist) and drifts from NY towards oriental shores. I like a lot the way you sing this. But it ends too soon ! I would like you to carry on... you're embarking me for a trip I expected lasting longer. Also, just my opinion, take care of the synth you're bringing in. Softens the song too much, and a bit "orientalish" and corny to my ears. Enthralling peace, anyway. Once again, well done, mate ! [ Reply to This ]
Oriental? &mdash 11/28/06 - 05:58:39 AM
Thanks for your comments. It's really only a linking piece and wasn't meant as a full blown song so that's why it's quite short. Although I can see what you mean about the synth I wanted it to be soft to match the very mellow groove he's in (that's why I kept my voice very even.). I tried a number of sounds but couldn't find one that suited better than the one I used.
Cheers

on words. Interesting music as well. Again, you have a nice word-hook going on on this.
Cool ending as well!

Nice... &mdash 12/06/06 - 07:43:55 PM
I really like your singing and composing... And its glad to hear that u mention Turkey, because %u0130 am from turkey! But i had to say that i could not hear the saz or oud voice in the song as in your key words for the song. The eastern melody sounds like played from Kanun or a more Eastern instrument Santur, which can be tought as the simple version of Kanun... Anyway thanks for sharing this nice song :) [ Reply to This ]
Well spotted &mdash 12/07/06 - 05:42:18 AM
Thanks for your comments Emre. The Turkish link was initially due to the story so I needed a song that had some "Eastern" type sounds. You take the prize for noticing that it is not in fact a saz. It started out as a real one that I was given a few years ago but perhaps because I can't really play it convincely and/or it's a cheap tourist model it didn't sound right. I transferred what I was playing on the saz to the keyboard and played around with the saz sounds in GB and ended up using ----------- a dulcimer ! Go figure !!!!
Thanks again.
Cheers
