Description:
Spent lots of time on this one, but I think it was worth it. First song since last winter that has actually been completed. Yay. Hope you like it.

The picture above is of my lil' brother watching airplanes.

I marked this one as a soundtrack, but I am open to anyone who wants to collaborate as usual.

I have made a remix contest for this song here

A good comeback! &mdash 11/28/06 - 03:25:30 PM
Weird... I wrote a comment a few minutes ago, but it didn't show up...

I guess I'll write you another one, then!

This was completely worth your time.

Totally film-worthy in my books.

I especially liked the tempo change in the "chorus".

Good to hear new finished stuff from you. :)

Thanks Ein. &mdash 11/28/06 - 04:10:38 PM
The tempo change is minor - 110 to 120, but I thought it was needed. Also - I uploaded 3 previous versions and deleted them withing 20 min so that is probably what happened with your comments - sorry.

GREAT MIXING! &mdash 11/28/06 - 04:40:57 PM
I have been thinking about getting Logic myself, and if this is the kind of sound quality you can get out of it.....well I am going to just HAVE to buy it!

A great professional sounding mix.....

Logic &mdash 11/28/06 - 04:48:35 PM
I wouldn't say that Logic can give you a more professional sounding mix than anything else. Technically, I could have made this same thing in garageband...well, except for the tempo change. Logic is a wonderful program, but don't expect it to just give you better mixes - that is something you have to give it.

Thanks for the comments :).

nice track &mdash 11/28/06 - 05:37:19 PM
I have just recently started to listen to the "scoring/soundtrack" genres.
(I guess this is where the engineers post their music)
I like the mix. I also like your comment on the fact that - the program doesn't make the mix or the track. Right now I work only in GB (for music) even though I have a Digi 002. I have been thinking of getting Logic. Mainly because I want to start dealing with samples again. GB to Pro tools is sucks.

I look forward to hearing more from you and all the folks that have good composissions as well as great mixes.

This cut is &mdash 11/29/06 - 08:18:54 PM
perfect. It's almost like it was written for sports documentary's. It's a beautiful piece. Great builds, driving throughout, seemless transitions, etc. I really like it. I would use this is a heartbeat.

Beautiful Mind &mdash 11/30/06 - 05:40:54 AM
Just listened throug the Beautiful Mind soundtrack, and yep, the first four string chords are the same as mine in the song "Looking for the next great idea". At least we part our ways after that.

That is a great movie though. One of my favorites.

Thanks for the heads up.

I Don't Think You Should Worry &mdash 12/05/06 - 07:26:43 AM
I'm pretty sure those chords in that sequence appear in music other than "A Beautiful Mind" (a recurring motif in Carter Burwell's soundtrack to "It Can Happen to You" comes to mind). It's not unusual in classical music to explore/echo older motifs.
The important thing is what you do with it. I enjoyed this very much.

Better to Listen to the Movie itself &mdash 12/05/06 - 08:32:05 AM
rather than the soundtrack to "It Could Happen to You". The CD has little of Burwell's music in it, mostly songs. However, it can be heard in parts of "The Search" which is on the cd.

I really like the buildup of sound &mdash 12/02/06 - 04:23:14 PM
The drums are really good, too. This is really lush and forward driving at the same time. I listened a couple of times, and it does sound very soundtrackish, with its moments of calm and then the louder sections. I'm glad you returned with something like this that obviously is worth the wait!

A really gorgeous track Mr Audio person - and great choice of photo as well, very apposite.

Listened lots - sweeping, panoramic sounds, you've handled the strings and percussion particularly well. Powerful.

WOW &mdash 12/17/06 - 01:16:50 PM
Ben, sorry for the belated review... This song is definitely one of your A songs!!! You haven't come up with a full song in previous weeks/months, but when you did you just blew me away with the grandiosity and majestic energy of this masterpiece. Every great quality of your previous creations have settled into this piece -- the energy, the rhythm, the delicate complexity, the grand vision... and the overall result is simply awesome! It's now in my iPod list for work-out music to inspire me to keep me going on the treadmill, ala Chariots of Fire. :D

Fantastic Chorus &mdash 12/25/06 - 11:11:59 PM
This piece really got my blood flowing! It gave me the ever elusive "I can accomplish anything I put my mind to" frame of mind.

Thanks for the much needed lift. Great job!

I love this.. &mdash 04/11/07 - 06:32:36 PM
This by far is my favorite song I have listened to on Mac Jams. I love the uniqueness and feel it has. I can tell you put a lot of time into it. Picture a movie reel of a Space Shuttle lifting off, space, and the sort. I know that most likely sounds corny, but this music really inspires you to think and feel emotions. Is it all original, has to be right?! I have told Mac Jammers this before, but I really mean it this time, you need to try and get your music into a movie of something. You would be an instant success. Great work and keep it up. Please listen to my music. (It is nothing as great as this).
