Description:
Inspired by the book 'The Mists of Avalon' (well, actually, the entire Avalon series!) by Marion Zimmer Bradley. This is also just to say 'I'm back!' ;)

For those of you who haven't read the book, Avalon, the Holy Isle, is seperated from the world by a magical mist. Those who know the paths through the mist can come to Avalon, (which is hovering somewhere between the real world and that of Faerie), but the others come to the Isle of Inis Witrin, (Glastonbury), which is very much in this world. Only the priestesses can part the mists over the lake, and in this track, I've tried to get across the image of the priestess calling back the mists, and finally, seeing Avalon.

Nice, ethereal textures envelope me like the "mists of Avalon". Very evocative--successfully achieves what I believe you're going for.:)

visual &mdash 11/28/06 - 04:10:00 PM
very warm visual feel almost sounds like it skips in certain parts but i like that but then it ends when it gets interesting?

...nice tension... &mdash 11/28/06 - 04:10:53 PM
...and release,

the intrumentation conjures up images of the mists...
the ending seems a little sudden, but a very enjoyable track!
Well done!
(...Nice to see you back on the site!)

nice movie soundtrack &mdash 11/28/06 - 04:29:24 PM
This is very nicely done, instruments sound quite good (what software are you using again... and are you still on a PC?) Unfortunately there was something going on through most of the recording that created a shimmery stutter, almost like the hard disk couldn't keep up with the audio, and that really distracts from this. But I like the orchestration & builds. Welcome back!
ttfn,
Drakonis

Thanks Drak! I'm using Magix Music Maker 2000, and yeah, I'm still on a PC - but I've managed to find some gorgeous new loops. I think I know the reason for the stutter (I was downloading something at the same time....I know, I know...don't do it! lol!)

Welcome back &mdash 11/29/06 - 09:36:52 AM
I read the book a great many years ago ... found it a leeeeettle romantic for my cynical English tastes but I've certainly been to Avalon a few times, both in this world (Glastonbury) and t'other.

Yes there is a technical fault of some sort on the track but I can still hear what it's meant to sound like and it's very atmospheric.

Thanks again, Rebsie! &mdash 11/29/06 - 10:22:23 AM
Hehe - yeah, I know what you mean, but meh, it's good escapism! :D

Hmm, I'm wondering if the fault is actually in the loop itself. I've re-recorded it, and even on that it still occurs. In exactly the same places.

I can see it &mdash 11/30/06 - 10:18:46 AM
the mists part and the end of my journey is in sight. what a wonderful sonic interpretation. the voices were angelic? what synth produced those? they are truly otherworldly. everything was deftly arranged. small nit would be the end..sounds like it got cut off?
