Description:
This is a tribute guitar solo dedicated to Leo Kottke
In the picture you see him traveling. I think he has done tons of that in his many years of performing. I tried to get the bald head out of the the image but can't cause he in not bald. Not good enough artist:) So all I can do is add that being bald myself I see a little of him in me :)

Thanks &mdash 11/29/06 - 12:15:21 AM
I just recorded it few hours ago. I wanted to finish it cause the house was quite. Then my daughter came in the house and thankfully she didn't make to much noise while I was recording.

You've got a Kottke feel... &mdash 11/29/06 - 07:22:16 AM
You know, sometimes people do a 'tribute' to someone, but the tribute doesn't have anything to do with that artist's sound or approach or spirit or ANYTHING...
You've got enough of Leo in this to firmly anchor it in the Kottke tradition, enough of his signature moves to be identifiable, but enough of its own thing to be your piece as well...
Well done, Bill. I hope he gets to hear it someday...

I see the same... &mdash 11/29/06 - 07:56:51 AM
I've always thought you sound a lot like Leo Kottke at times. Of course, playing solo acoustic guitar is a little like fingerprints, they're all different, but I think you've captured a taste of that Kottke feel in this tribute. I don't know if you've ever seen him in concert, but one thing that's interesting is that he plays standing up (or at least did at the times I saw him). Thanks for the tribute; Kottke's a worthy subject! [ Reply to This ]

Hey, Look! 'My Feet Are Smiling' &mdash 12/01/06 - 12:53:18 AM
Man o man, Bill.
Not only are you good, but you work quickly!.. Uncut and true to the core.
It reminds me a little of a Leo medley recorded back in 1973. Hehehe.
Killer syncopated handwork.
You are a virtuoso finger stylist.
Always impressed.

Ya, scorp &mdash 12/01/06 - 01:02:56 AM
You inspired me with the Bach's Joy of Man's Desiring, in Leo's open G tuning (DGdgBd). So I didn't want to change tuning til I worked something out with it. it's a fun tuning.
Thanks Scorp for the post and reminding me of the G open tuning.

Simply Beautiful &mdash 12/01/06 - 02:06:31 AM
And to know you had to finsh up knowing that your daughter was entering the house adds a reality to the whole thing. I love it. I have the same situation sometimes.
As soon as I tuned in your guitar... Yarma (Hot Tuna,Airplane)... came to mind.
That bluesy pickin is so lost nowa days. It is so refreshing. Thank you for sharing. keep em coming.
I put it on the pod
Tim

The . . . &mdash 12/01/06 - 09:27:39 AM
airplane and hot tuna I believe are from around the San Francisco area which is were I currently live. (though we are selling our house and may move to the Nashvile area. I enjoyed White Rabbit and the acoustic music fingerpicking of that eara. I guess I kind of came out of that time period. Lots of guitar things happening in those days.

Very nice &mdash 12/02/06 - 01:20:41 AM
Great song and I especially like the quick harmonics you threw in there.
I saw Leo in concert once on a bill with Lyle Lovett in St. Louis. I understand your admiration for him and this is a most worthy tribute.
Great job. [ Reply to This ]

Glad to hear &mdash 12/05/06 - 04:53:58 PM
that Leo Kottke seems to be a superstar this side of the lake. I was a big fan of him in my tender ages (was buying, or robbing to my friends, all vinyls from great guitarist). For us, he was THE guy on 12 strings ! Leo is not really well known here, in France, at the exception of guitar lunatics like me. I still have some recordings from him and I'm so glad to hear what you've done. Brilliant. Is Leo still playing, or... ? [ Reply to This ]
I think so &mdash 12/05/06 - 07:06:08 PM
Yes, as for as I know. I've never heard him in person but really am looking forward to hearing him live in concert setting.

I'm a big fan of Mr. Kottke... &mdash 01/25/07 - 11:22:29 PM
...ever since that black and white armadillo album came out. This would definitely put a smile on his face.
Ed Hannifin told me to check your stuff out and you definitely have "filled the bill".
You sound great. [ Reply to This ]
