(Ode To My Aunt)

Feeling “Sill” means to be a mischief and when “The Moon’s Chasing the Hounds” means the Coast is Clear, which means everything is just “Jake”.

My grandparents never acknowledged that my aunt acquired this nickname of “Juke”, which, one day appeared. From the dock at the lake house to the island is about a mile of open water. My grandfather always kept the keys to the boat. On the island, it was rumored, was a, never talked about and forbidden, “Joint”. On the far side of the lake, very late at night, cars with powerful engines and no lights on would slowly move across the rumbly, wooden island bridge.

Mile of open water. Yep.

It’s more Rock ‘n Roll than Swing or Bop, but,

Here’s to You, “Juke”.

Very Best,
Cooper

Lyrics:
THIS JOINT IS JAKE

Place comes to mind
As Stars Strut it out
And God’s asleep
Seems No one’s About
But over that hill
By the Far Lake
The Boys start up that
Juke Jump Sound
From Then till Dawn
It’s Going Down.

Aw, say you’re Weary
Or feeling Sill
Come on Baby
Come and get your fill
Gonna Sting ya,
Boys make the Room Jump
Yeah, it’ll hit ya
Like an ol’ steam drill
Cum’on, Swing over, Baby
Yeah, the Joint is Jake

Don’t be Late, No
Ah, Don’t be Late.

Your Grand Ma don’t know
So, she won’t tell
Your Grand Daddy,
He’s asleep, as well
So, Come on, Now
No Waitin’ Around
Gettin’ to Goin’
And Puttin’ It Down

We can still be Struttin’
As the Moon’s Leavin’ Town
Ol’ Man Trouble
No Wheres Around

The Moon’s Chasing the Hounds.

He’s No Wheres Around

Rock'on, Coop ! &mdash 11/30/06 - 10:59:54 AM
Really pushed high the volume. Allready finished ? Blimey !! Play it again, Sam... I dig this kind of rock, my first love in guitar playin'. Really like your voice, Coop, but I keep saying the same on all the songs you've done so far ! My first intention when I came across GB was to riff on this kind of stuff with my geet, but if you can't sing, even if you're Jimy or Pete or Stevie (guess who), no way. Not your case, obviously.

The Beater rips! &mdash 11/30/06 - 04:11:57 PM
Very smooth rhythm section. Listening on iMac speakers, so not a real good listen - however this sounds better on the tiny speakers than most things I've listened to this way. Just getting into the groove and it finished :( - so I had to play it again. Best instrumentally that you've done my friend. Maybe too much delay on the vox? Maybe not!
You occupy a special MJ place musically Coop, one that I really enjoy.
Thanks,
Neil

SLOW LEARNER &mdash 12/01/06 - 11:32:35 AM
The Delay (delay, delay, delay) You mean?

Meant to be the Echo on the Lake, or a Megaphone singer from the Forties sort of thing. However, I DID want you to hear the Lyric!

Just a Trifle; quick homage to my Aunt (and Some swimmer, in Her Day), when EVERYONE else sounds like they just built new, Pro Studios!

Have You noticed That?

Thank You for your kind Comments and Sense of Humor!

Best Personal Regards,

Cooper

They turned it into a Road House years later.

Which my Uncle rode a horse into and said, "Now, about that Beer."

(He'd already had a couple, I'm Told.)

Many Thanks, Brother

Remastering the garage band &mdash 11/30/06 - 10:43:16 PM
Nicely done. The groove was snappy. Kinda brought me back to my own Garage Band days. Fun.

Also thanks for offering the song as a speaker sample

The opening riff comes from a shuffle we used to do as a true Barn Band; lots Louder, though. Heh, Heh.

Mixed on the Klipsch we were talking about. They are better than one might Think when you look at the price. Lots Better.

Very Best,

Cooper

Nice &mdash 12/01/06 - 08:53:49 PM
little rockin' tune, Coop! Nice geetar as usual! I hope you don't mind me throwin' my 2 cents in on the VOX. The delay sounds really cool, but almost seemed a tad much for the tune. I know it's all personal preference, and I've been known to talk outta my butt, so.....
(plus, I just read your response to Jiguma, so I understand what you're going after here)

Anyway, I ejoyed listening! I'm glad you've been busy writing tunes- lookin' forward to the next one!

Yeah. The Picture in the book that defines the "Mix Master Dawg", that Will NOT be me. Still learning by Mistake, Ya know?

PLUS, I did the Stagger on the Phones and didn't check it on Speaker for clarity. Stupid.

Thank You for the Look See and the Crit. Always like to hear from You.

Very Best Regards,

Coop

Swingin' &mdash 12/02/06 - 12:13:18 PM
The slapback echo on the vox works for me... and it does kind of sound like your rocking outdoors at the lakefront. I get the impression that everyone's having a grand time at the speakeasy, dancing to this swinging tune.

You have such a great way with lyrics, and they match perfectly with the rockin' tune. Makes me want to get up and do some of that West Coast swing! "We can still be struttin' as the moon's leavin' town" -- awesome.
