Description:
scandal and cover up......everyone's doing it these days.....just don't let the queen find out!
I uploaded this a long time ago in m4a format and I fineally got around to uploading an mp3...here it is!
Lyrics:
Don't Tell the Queen
©2002
I have lived my life with my head in a hole
the hole is in the heavens and the heavens are a haven that i'm glad to know
if i take my head out - head out of the hole
all the truth that's in the heavens about fallen angel felons spills all over the floor
a pretty big mess for the bishops to clean
just don't tell the queen
helping your brother, well that's a noble thing to do
if helping isn't hiding all the lies about who's lying down then who's helping who?
i have seen eyes crying - looking for a home
eyes who have seen lying thieves stealing souls for silver and a thrill of their own
a pretty sick mess for the cardinal to clean
just don't tell the queen
when i lived with my parents i could have killed them everyday
that doesn't give me any right to hold that that gun real tight against their noggin that way
an agent tells a sergeant matters regarding world peace
too much intelligence can get your sergeants and lieutenants counting all the deceased
a pretty big mess for the generals to clean
just don't tell the queen
even in the heavens there are lines everywhere
you can count them as you cross them just don't tell your tally to someone who isn't up there
up there in that hole - the hole that's in the sky
a sky that's not too far beyond the atmosphere that is right here around you and i
and so i live my life with my head in a hole
the hole is in the heavens and the heavens are a haven that i'm glad to know

even in the heavens &mdash 11/30/06 - 01:32:30 PM
they be dancin and shakin it up. this is just an excellent upbeat pop tune with superb production. the change ups, the solo, the turnarounds all showcase your craft to maximum extent. i LUV the chorus!!! if i were to gush anymore I'd bleed out. just great, really great. So SVP runs on OS x? did you play all the instruments? [ Reply to This ]
SVP was great. &mdash 11/30/06 - 11:50:54 PM
thanks for your time and thoughts. No, SVP does not run on OS X. I recorded this a long time ago on my G3 which still has OS 8.6 on it. I wish SVP was still in development cuz I LOVED that program. Their drum editter was so easy and flexible, great swing feels. had a cool replace audio feature where you could take a snare drum midi sequence for example, and replace all midi snare drum hits with an audio sample while retaining the midi velocity info on the new audio track. Lots of great features. they were ahead of their time.
Yes, I'm playing all the insturments except for tambourine which was played by Charles Aldous.

You are most talented ... &mdash 11/30/06 - 01:35:51 PM
I'm always impressed by your songwriting and production skills and this is no exception (I've heard this song before but I don't think I've commented on it). For all its dark subject matter it's a great bouncy feelgood song and impeccably performed on every level. Lovely guitar sounds, fabulous vocals ... and the mad piano bits are great too. Wonderful. Soooo, now I have.
This is just a great, catchy pop song!

Only... &mdash 11/30/06 - 04:19:34 PM
...the other day I was wondering where've you been. Away doing this stuff - brilliant.
Be cool,
Pie
P.S. Don't think I didn't notice the effort that's gone into the vocal performance here. Doubling harmonies throughout - nice.

Hope you put it in their perspective &mdash 11/30/06 - 10:10:26 PM
or is it there perspective. Maybe they'll pull their head out of their hole. Man... maybe some day I can pull my head out and write like this. I'm not a queen so It doesn't matter. Good stuff. [ Reply to This ]
good stuff all around &mdash 11/30/06 - 10:14:28 PM
a little xtc meets early squeeze. can't get better than that. but i find the picture of the queen on top a little disturbing. well maybe a whole lot. tight and bouncing...the song....not that queen. on second thought she could be since i wasn't there. [ Reply to This ]
disturbing picture &mdash 11/30/06 - 11:57:06 PM
I played a gig one night for a Chicago Gender Society banquet. That's where I took that picture. If you think the picture is disturbing you should have seen it first hand!

A Real Standout &mdash 11/30/06 - 11:45:30 PM
This is my first listen to the tune (sorry, I've been out of the loop for awhile now) and am super impressed. The production is tight as hell, the vocals and instruments are done well, its catchy and the lyrics are terribly clever. This is right up there with Bonka's stuff. And I love Bonka's stuff.
Excellent. [ Reply to This ]

Yes, BRILLIANT! &mdash 12/01/06 - 12:32:29 AM
Love it, Ray.
Master craftsman and artist, you are - I wonder if there's a difference between the two, sometimes.
Well, you're definitely both.
Great instrumentation - the combo of electric and acoustic is seamlessly weaved with that rockin' chorus.
A tune that sticks to your ribs, for sure.
I think I'll go and grab a Guinness and give this another listen!
Always look forward to your music.

Great!
I second all that Ejh wrote.
As a little detail; the sound of the bass reminds me of the bass I played in a little hobby band twenty years ago .. used to call it "the tractor bass". Dig it a lot. .. And all he rest too of course! [ Reply to This ]
