Description:
This is not a rehash of of Monkey Piano that i did around a month and a half ago. Actually this was going to be a trilogy of the monkey and his piano. but the journey of the monkey to vegas was getting to weird. a burgandy tuxedo with a ruffled shirt getting lap dances is totally wrong. so what happens in vegas stays in vegas. this is part 3. if it seems confusing refer to Monkey Piano http://www.macjams.com/song/25671. this will probably confuse the issues more. and the monkey will play at the end.
Lyrics:
Return of Monkey Piano
i think i heard it but misunderstood
somethings missing in the neighborhood
a song that i heard before
thought i would never never hear it anymore
i heard a garbage can crashing over
the silence was to easy to easy to ignore
then came a knock at the door
a red piano covered in velour
chorus
monkey see no evil
monkey hears no one
speaking of the devil
monkey has had his fun
show some apathy for the monkey
its monkey do monkey see
a ripe banana for the monkey
plays the red piano for me
dreams of breakfast on the moon
reads a book with all the pages torn
stares at the window i stare back
though it's creepy i'm glad he's back
chorus
monkey see no evil
monkey hears no one
speaking of the devil
monkey has had his fun
chorus
monkey see no evil
monkey hears no one
speaking of the devil
monkey has had his fun
Hardware:
ovation and ibanez ew acoustics, ibanez bass, fender strat, epiphone 335, m-audio keyboard for the monkey piano and for drumming, digitech gnx2, mk219 mike.

Is this a political commentary . . . &mdash 11/30/06 - 09:13:57 PM
on our current president's second term in office?
Except for some odd beats in the drums, I liked the 80's no-wave feel to this. Sorta like the Cure or P.I.L.

i've yet to see the president.. &mdash 12/01/06 - 12:24:32 AM
play a piano. but there is that look on his face. it could be about anyone. or about just a monkey. thats a image that has stuck in my head way back when alice cooper band did a video of the song elected. jeez know that i said that you could be right. the drumming is me playing like a monkey.
thanks for stopping by the monkey house. [ Reply to This ]
Slick!! &mdash 11/30/06 - 09:35:08 PM
really well done...lots of interesting elements that blend well together for something unique yet pleasing...I particularly like the sounds added for the ending...One bizarre story :) the way I like it... [ Reply to This ]
i took this to the... &mdash 12/01/06 - 12:31:06 AM
other side of the first monkey piano song that was just acoustics, vocals, bass & drums. so i went 180 on this. fun building it in a afternoon. and that is the monkey playing his red piano at the end. i can't write love songs so this is what comes out. be sure to duck if you see a monkey winding up for a pitch. Thanks!!!! &mdash 12/01/06 - 12:33:56 AM
i had to wrestle the guitar away from the monkey to play them. the sneeky devil went behind my back and detuned all of my guitars. thanks for the comment. [ Reply to This ]
As I used to say back in the day... &mdash 11/30/06 - 10:22:25 PM
...OFF THE WALL!!! LOL! Excellent work Vic. Awesome psychedelic leads...and a nice vocal delivery. Clean and balanced mix. This is a bad dream like you get when you eat a meat-lovers pizza before bedtime...An instant fave.
Rock on (and on)! [ Reply to This ]
do you mean when i... &mdash 12/01/06 - 12:42:18 AM
...eat a meat-lovers pizza before bedtime or the monkey eats a meat-lovers pizza before bedtime. if it's the monkey, watch out the next day because the s#@t will hit the fan and anything else within range. as always thanks. hopefully the nightmares will subside. [ Reply to This ]

I continue to love your guitar sounds... &mdash 12/01/06 - 08:18:39 AM
And I really like the lyrics here and the vocal sound...
I appreciate the monkeyish looseness in the multi-drums, but I'm finding that at points it's distracting, and I'm wishing it was a bit tighter...
There are a few parts where I also could wish that the vocal phrasing was a little different, so that the vocal gets a little less metronomish.
So, I guess I'm sayin', tighter in the drums and looser in the vocals...
The sounds, sounds, sounds are really cool. I love hearing those guitars. Ultra cool ending...

excellent ideas &mdash 12/01/06 - 09:41:40 PM
so i tighten the skins and loosen the lips, i'll be a fashion model in no time. i think i'm having to much fun playing drums. so i should curtail it some. no problem. more like ringo than keith moon. i like the idea of mixing up the vocalization, very good point. no wonder why the cat joins in when i try to record the vocals. i'll have to sick the monkey on him. Thanks much! [ Reply to This ]
lap dances &mdash 12/01/06 - 09:51:23 AM
actually your description started to pique my interest ;-) Vic, nice lead work and your vocal really stands out on this track. cool lyrics as well.
dissident ending was a treat as well [ Reply to This ]
thanks! &mdash 12/01/06 - 09:47:56 PM
for the kind words. i think the monkey getting into lite porn could just be sooo wrong. but it is darkly funny when you think about it. that could easily be a david cronnenberg movie (=D [ Reply to This ]
Good One &mdash 12/01/06 - 09:45:32 PM
I agree with most of the comments here. I would drop the word "has" in the last line of the verse. Monkey had his fun, would be more definitive and you wouldn't have to rush the lyric.
The musical elements, especially the beginning and ending are very good. The Monkey is good, if mischievous. I'd still keep him around.

thats a good point on dropping the has. those guitar lines where create with two guitars with 3 delays between them. i doesn't seem obvious but it creates a subtle full effect. now i have to find a discount monkey chow feed store. thanks again! [ Reply to This ]
Pretty classic turn &mdash 12/02/06 - 02:58:22 PM
In the middle of the guitar lead towards the end - before the chorus. Great tune - talented monkey - well done. [ Reply to This ]
thanks &mdash 12/02/06 - 07:31:31 PM
that guitar part is the only musical reference to the first monkey piano part one. a rerpise of the chord pattern. don't tell anyone the monkey is good he will want to be paid. [ Reply to This ]
A great ending! &mdash 12/02/06 - 11:36:44 PM
It seems like it is bad form to comment on the ending of a song because it sounds like a diss instead of a compliment (e.g." the best part of the song was the end") but I really like the twist on the end. Nice production. [ Reply to This ]
thats a high five for the monkey &mdash 12/02/06 - 11:47:12 PM
Nice tune &mdash 12/03/06 - 04:46:47 PM
As always this very good sound with nice guitar playing, this voice and this unique style...
As you know, my language is too limited to write all my feelings but believe me, I'm your fan now, some of your tracks are in my Itunes playlist and I'm glad to listen to you...
Thanks

I say beat him off your back. Very cool song. I suppose its Drums with the keys and its real good. I like the lose parts its almost out of time then right back in time but thats just me I like things a little off. [ Reply to This ]
thanks bandit! &mdash 12/05/06 - 09:51:01 PM
that slight out of time. you hear is from using 3 delays between 2 guitar. since i (tapped tempoed) 2 of them i expected them to shift a bit over time. actually i was hoping they would would shifted more after a few seconds because things can go really strange. you need to try it out and experiment with it. happy accidents can happen with delays or they can shave the hair off the monkeys back.
