Description:
I decided to throw some vocals over my last version of "Carol of the Birds," since so many have not heard this carol. They're a little rough (Time is rare around this season, I had a WHOLE hour when all 8 of the kids I have at home were out). But I like the sound anyway.
Lyrics:
When rose the eastern star, the birds came from afar,
In that full might of glory.
With one melodious voice they sweetly did rejoice
And sang the wondrous story,
Sang, praising God on high, enthroned above the sky,
And the Gift He gave through Mary.
The eagle left his lair, came winging through the air,
His message loud arising.
And to his joyous cry the sparrow made reply,
His answer sweetly voicing.
"Overcome are death and strife, this night is born new life",
The robin sang rejoicing.
The partridge adds his note, “To Bethlehem I fly,
Where in the stall He’s lying.
There, in the manger blessed, I’ll build myself a nest
To soothe the baby’s crying.
There, in the manger blessed, I’ll build myself a nest
And sing of love undying.”

Real nice, Tom &mdash 12/02/06 - 09:09:41 AM
The vocals add a lot to this tune. I hear ya about recording time being rare, and I only have four kids coming in and out. How you got a whole hour is cool. This sounds really pretty. Great harmony. Faved and downloaded. Adding it to my iTunes Christmas collection. Thanks for singing this one for us. :-) [ Reply to This ]

I appreciate any positive comments from one I consider a MacJams harmony queen. [ Reply to This ]

with your vocals. I hadn't heard this song before you posted the instrumental. A new Christmas favorite for me. Thanks.
You do a beautiful job all around on this. Everything is balanced and clear. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks for this &mdash 12/09/06 - 08:21:40 PM
It is a lesser known carol, and it was wonderful to hear you singing it. Those rare gems make us listen to the stories with new ears.
I like the instrumentation- especially the solo guitar between the verses. I also like the vocal harmonies, and although there are indeed a couple of rough spots, the total song is wonderful.
I'm making two shepherd costumes and 4 sheep this weekend, so I won't be doing much posting either - I'm glad you 'grabbed some time in your busy schedule to make this happen. [ Reply to This ]

Nice job Thomas. Your vocals add a lot to this lovely tune. Reminds me of some of Kemper Crabb's stuff, and that's a GOOD thing!
God bless! [ Reply to This ]

Kemper Crabb. Now there's someone I haven't heard of in a while. His "Vigil" album is still one of my favs.
If you liked my vocals on this, I think you'll like my "John Riley." Coming soon. [ Reply to This ]
