Description:
Warning: If you are looking for a happy-pants emotionally uplifting song, this is NOT IT. I wrote this after a particularly frustrating week at work. The kind when you feel like you might just go postal. We all have those weeks, I think. Anyway, I get these periodic frustrations our through my music, and this is the result. It was greatly cathartic.

Lyrics:
Racerat

The train is movin’ about 5 miles and hour
Crawlin’ like a snail and creakin’ like a glacier
For a “town that never sleeps” this one could use a break
She’s a moanin’ like a mistress at her sugar daddy’s wake

The wheels of the world could use a little grease
Creaking and a bitchin’, strainin’ at the pressure
The weight presses down, breakin’ it’s back
Just lemme get to work or I’m gonna get the sack

I’m a Racerat runnin’ on a wheel
Forgettin’ how to love or how to feel

Lights never change, the ticking of the clock
Drivin’ is insane and my car is a prison
Packed in the grid like a joker in a box
I scream out of the window, tell the world how much this sucks

One of these days my switch might flip
Lose my shit complete like Michael Douglas in that movie
Light up every asshole who tries to slow me down
Then they’d pick up the pace in this piece of shit town

I’m a Racerat runnin’ on a wheel
Learnin’ how to hate and how to steal

Fight for every nickel that they toss my way
Edgin’ out the losers and the weak and the moral
Heaven may belong, in the end, to the meek
But my money’s on this hustler every day of the week

This line never moves and I’m stuck at the fuckin’ store
Morons makin’ change and pushin’ the buttons
Any line you pick, it’s always the same
Make it easy for me baby put a bullet in my brain

I’m a Racerat runnin’ on a wheel
Forgettin’ how to love or how to feel

Are You ? &mdash 12/07/06 - 03:27:26 AM
I guess, yes, you're a RaceRat. Suits you, sir. Grundgy mood for kinda punky ballad (oxymoronic ?). Top notch, man. Fucking download doesn't work, I wanted this in my pod to go to work ! Will have set me in the appropriate mood (killing everybody). Excellent, will come back.

Excellent tune &mdash 12/07/06 - 07:30:08 AM
Great production - love the backup vocals. The lyrics are spot on - very funny and to the point. I especially like " my money's on this hustler every day of the week" - meek/week - good. Rockin lead guitar - great bitching in the time honored tradition of The Kinks.

Blasts through the hands on the wheel feel bad ass test. The production is sharp and driving with excellent Rock balancing. The vocals come out as confident and cool without trying hard to be cool. All the elements are in place when it comes to performance and production.

You can try variations on the verse melodies which in turn will demand variations on the riff itself. That little change building into a ripping solo would close the circle on this piece.

Nice, real nice.

Thanks for the thoughtful and honest feedback. I can always count on you. I agree. That was one of my hesitations with uploading this. The melody is totally repetitive and doesn't offer much variation. That is where I need to improve. You totally nailed it.

damn guys &mdash 12/07/06 - 12:34:01 PM
This was fun... the bitchy double half-sung vocals give it a nice loose feel... once again, the lyrics are pretty hilarious. I agree with the Kinks comparison. This song cuts to the core of what rock and roll is.

punkish with road rage &mdash 12/07/06 - 09:36:13 PM
lots of drive and shiny chrome. if any comparisons i'ld go with joe walsh. it's that humor and a slight touch in your vocals.

Great Mix. It's catchy and it sounds professional. Edgy lyrics and a punk feel. What more could you ever want?

Going the Distance &mdash 12/08/06 - 12:31:53 PM
This reminds me a little of the Cake song. Really nice production, vocals and lyrics. Guitars are good and solid.

This would go pretty well with Vic Holman's "So It Is" as an indictment of the mundane existence.

Good job all the way around.

Good song man, I like the theme of the frustration as you said in the description. Things that stand out too me are the good production, well written lyrics that flow on, also like the chord progression as well. This song reminds me of Parklife by Blur for some reason, I think its cause they are singing about similar frustrations.

This one has a very bright mix. I like it. It's loud and baudy! Good solid mix. You have a great rock voice. Nothing held back here.
