Description:
This cut is really more like the type of stuff I usually do. A little odder, a little rougher, more sketchy. All the loops are my own. Funky groove, some backwards vocals deeper in, moody. Simple, but not so straightforward. Vocals by Matt M.

Lyrics:
Ice Fairies

As I got through the winter
Walked in the snow, light, blending in
The ice fairies formed around my breasts
Auburn hair touched by the cold fingers of morning

No grey skys blanket around my innocent body

Journey back to Springtime when the raindrops
Would fly beneath my fingertips
The lillies would bloom between my toes fucker
Cool eyes paint deep my madness
That’s settling between my ribs
My bare body aches with the warmth
Of the snow falling off the cool green leaves

I am the darkness that you know will always remain
Who follows your footsteps and whispers your name
I will linger behind you, a reminder, a refrain
I move with your gestures and play all your games

Love that &mdash 12/07/06 - 02:49:53 AM
Yes, not straightforward at all. Dig the percussion and the voice. Excellent production, and, above all, great creativity. Well done, man ! Rock still lives !

Thanks Youra,
After you panned "drowning" I thought you didn't love me anymore....but seriously, I appreciate a frank critique.

Very cool production. Dig the self made loops. Less crazy about the vox on this one - spoken is a tough medium. It's not the lyrics or vox - just my own predudice - and a small honest comment on a great track.

Very Cool &mdash 12/07/06 - 09:25:44 AM
Thats a groovy tune where your ear gets your money's worth. Love how you think in multiple dimensions and about the experience and the story rather than simple selfish grooves. Production as the rest of your stuff is excellent. My only comment is that the vocals need a bit of texture. They work here but sound too raw, like your next door neighbour. Perhaps a megaphone kinda effect would do something. Ignore me though, I'm an effects abuser :p

Hey arcifus,
Yes, you are my friend. I love effects, but like the demon rum, one must be able to refrain, be pure, know when to say no, and for god's sake have a designated driver ( I mean mixer)...

now you are talkin!! &mdash 12/07/06 - 12:45:06 PM
This is even more up my alley... a little more offbeat, touches of electronic... great driving beat. Personally, I liked the vocals. Some of those lines just crack me up: "The ice fairies formed around my breasts"
"The lillies would bloom between my toes... fucker"
etc. etc.

Hey Nutz,
Glad you approve, somehow I thought you would, knowing where you come from musically. Actually Matt M. is also planning on coming onto the site, and I'm sure will look you up, you guys have the same experimental aesthetic.

Also, yeah, when Matt said that "fucker" line I almost dropped my pick and wet myself---priceless.

This is cool - it's like some distant cousin of King Crimson. Great production!

Coming from you that is a high compliment. Your production levels are what I aspire to. Thanks.

I used to listen to a TON of Krimson. I'm sure they snuck in there influence wise. Adrian is a GOD! He's why I got a Roland Guitar synth years ago. I sold the old one recently, but plan on getting a Roland GI-20 after the holidays so I can play my soft synth's with it. I suck on the keyboard.

To tell you the truth, I'd take a funky beat over a thrash beat any day. Thanks for giving it to us. I'm not feeling the vocal eq too much, but I like the lyrics, especially the little scream you put in there. Just giving my opinion, don't change anything at all.
will you be releasing a CD soon?

Yeah me too. I was raised on rock, but funk just grabs ya by the b@lls, ya know. Can't hep yaself!

The vocal EQ is a little hot and sharp, a reminant of some rushed re-mastering before posting. Ah well, I'm always learning, and faster now that I have this great place to study, and great folks to study with.

My bro Andrew, pal Matt M. and I have self published 13 CD's actually. The production run was, hmmm let's see, 6, I think. That's where the cover art comes from, etc. I am kind of picking and chosing from my archive to upload. But trying to be selective. Alot of it was crap. At least I think so now.....But I'm still writing and recording new ones all the time.

Excellent! &mdash 12/08/06 - 01:44:07 AM
This is very pro sounding, and the Belew reference is strong - in both the vocal and the guitar. Excellent production, playing and vox. I'm always partial to this style - even though it's not something I can do.
Congratulations, very impressive - and a belated welcome to MacJams (I suspect you'll like it here).

I hear a little Adrian Belew influence in your vocals. Good job with the production.

I like your percussion and drums. Guitar chords and tones are also very cool.

Good job.

This is the kind of song I'd like to listen too in a Sunday session bar, it flows from start to finish, good to listen too when just chillen or relaxin. Nice work again man, keep me updated when you post more songs.

Cool track, man! The lyric/vocal puts in my head what could happen if Henry Rollins and David Byrne had a love child :)

I love this kinda funky, groovy out there stuff. Bring it on!

Love the idea of those two pairing up. They'd probably make a REAL interesting couple. The offspring would be a powerlifting art school student probably....lol.

Checkin' oldies &mdash 07/14/08 - 09:49:51 AM
I haven't heard something new for a while, so I thought I'd check one of your oldies.

I think you should clean this one a tiny bit and re-post. Cool JAM.
