Description:
This is for the LIOLI 2 challenge. A little bit of "challenge," a little bit of holiday spirit, and a little bit of "broken."

Yes, I KNOW I'm 2 days early, but my Saturday availability is questionable.

Ucello Magico &mdash 12/07/06 - 03:12:04 PM
Strongly recalls me Nino Rota's film score for the Fellini Casanova. I was looking at the moving cube, and, and, while somewhat hypnotised when listenting, I thought of the cage (the one of the Mechanical Bird for those who have seen the film). Dare I say your work stands the comparison ? I knew this challenge was going to be great. One moot point, however : I didn't recognized the damn loop. Maybe I should go to see the doctor. Anyway, what the heck, it's not a contest, and as long the music is brilliant... Excellent track, doofy.

hypnotic &mdash 12/07/06 - 08:01:39 PM
a very mind tingling listen. there was certainly an element of foriegn intrigue (for lack of a better discription) in it for me. perhaps the scales, melody and instrument choices. they all mesh so brillianty. the fx is artfully done. deja vu. i felt as if i had listen many many times before. all in all very skillfull and enjoyable tune. I'm definitely in europe somehwere, too cool. i thnk italy

That's &mdash 12/08/06 - 12:17:18 AM
One long establishing shot. Over the snowy European town. During the holiday season. With robots. Hey, that one's malfunctioning! An excellent challenge entry.

Doofy,

This track sent me dreaming. What a great mix of disparate dynamics. My visual cinematic mindscape finds me in a toy factory on mars where everything (including the martian factory workers) are made out of crystal or transparent aluminum (I can't tell). Production on the assembly line is running smoothly and all the workers are happy. Oh, and they are making little mechanical chocolate kisses (transparent of course).....

downloading not working on site: drats!. I'll be back

Why is that Ferris Wheel floating mid-air?! &mdash 12/08/06 - 07:20:56 PM
Ha! Very cool! Its like some kind of dreamworld carnivale. The loop sounds great on vibraphone (?) and the bells you pair it with make for a killer combination of sounds. The melody is just terrific.

The effects, percussive noises, and cymbals are really tasty. Superb soundscape! I love how loose this feels. It floats naturally from the theme to one direction and then back again seemingly without repetition.

Man! You stomped all over the challenge with this one!

Techno tango tangle! &mdash 12/08/06 - 07:33:27 PM
Strangely I went with tinny bells for my version as well. This is far deeper and more interesting though! I seriously want to dance to this...does that make me weird?

carmen? &mdash 12/08/06 - 08:49:36 PM
i love the mix of habanero (sp?) (Bizet?) and 'lectronica - the bells are very apropos for this time of year - the changes keep it in motion and interesting throughout.

so, what was broken about this?

and on top of that - it makes me want to run out and buy some new tyres before it snows.

I wanna be in this movie &mdash 12/08/06 - 10:57:02 PM
the classical themes coming and going with the chirpy tones and bells are beautiful - the bell melody is really evocative - and there's a delicacy to the whole piece that's so uncommon and appreciated. I like how these challenges seem to bring out the humor in so many people. But then you are deputydoofy aren't you. Ooh - the oboe/clarinet at the end is great.

Very fun travelogue of effects, sounds, all woven with vacation ease. A cartoon tango that transcends. Very enjoyable.

When my husband and I were rehearsing for our wedding dance (a tango), I did bring the laptop into the living room and we danced to this. Loved it!

Actually... &mdash 07/30/08 - 04:53:57 PM
As it turned out I did get my husband to let me cue up some great MacJams tangos for us to practice to (when we were rehearsing our wedding tango) and it was GREAT fun dancing to this one!
