Description:
Okay, so it must be a bummer for the devil when it's Xmas... I mean, come on... it's kind of, well, sad....
Lyrics:
Xmas in Hell
I got a tree and it burned
I put a stocking on the mantle and it burned
I nailed a wreath upon the door and it burned
alas such are the pitfalls of Christmas in Hell, Christmas in Hell
we had some holiday tinsel and it burned (holiday tinsel)
we had some sheet music of carols and they burned (la, la, la)
with all the screaming souls they were hard to learn, anyway
alas such are the pitfalls of Christmas in Hell
constant dips in the lake of fire and the nasty brim stone smell
alas such are the pitfalls of Christmas in Hell
I tried to meet with Rudolph to see if he would pull my pitchfork sleigh
but before I could speak with him
one of my demons cooked him as a fine fillet
it wasn’t supposed to be that way
alas such are the pitfalls of Christmas in Hell
constant dips in the lake of fire and the nasty brim stone smell
alas such are the pitfalls of Christmas in Hell, Christmas in Hell
everything just sounds like screaming
tortured souls and pools of lava steaming
Christmas in Hell (Hell)

Spike in Hell &mdash 12/08/06 - 01:30:41 AM
Spike,
Totally enjoyed this incredible track. You have a great voice my friend. Cute and funny but with music so smooth and seductive I just don't really give a damn. Your harmonies are invinceable!
Have you every heard Andy Newell? he did a CD with Andy Partridge of XTC you might like. It's called "The Greastest Living Englishman" [ Reply to This ]
The Devils Xmas &mdash 12/08/06 - 01:59:27 AM
Well, it's great to have you back here, man. I loved your stuff before, and this is just wonderful. Your voice is smooth, and reminds me a little of Elvis Costello in parts. The arrangements and production are fantastic, with great vocal harmonies.
The best thing is, of course, as a piece of genre music, this is first class, and then you dump on it with the lyrics, but you sing it with (burning) soul and totally straightfaced.
Merry Xmas

Must be this time of year &mdash 12/08/06 - 04:09:33 AM
Beautiful harmonies, fantastic! Nice chord progressions as well. I really dig your voice.
Guitarsolo sounds a bit too far away if u know what I mean...the song up to that point is very direct. Too much reverb for my taste (in the solo, that is).
But overall extremely enjoyable material! [ Reply to This ]
Solo... &mdash 12/08/06 - 12:53:56 PM
Okay so here's my concept of the solo, because usually I don't like that much verb either. I was imagining the devil sitting on a rock, next to the lake of fire in a big cavern. He's sad that he can't really celebrate Xmas, so he plays his lonely, over verbed solo... [ Reply to This ]

...I feel bad for those in hell, now! I almost wanna cry. Great song! I like this one for many of the reasons my I like your "FFFF" tune. Glad to see you posting more tunes. [ Reply to This ]

what a great idea!! &mdash 12/08/06 - 08:38:05 PM
I love the entire arrangement, and the lyrics are brilliant. Great job of taking a random idea and turning it into something GREAT ! [ Reply to This ]
Interesting...interesting &mdash 12/08/06 - 10:14:51 PM
I looked at the lyrics, and was expecting a really different style of music to carry it. This is just something I'm still trying to figure out.
In the meantime, however, your voice is just superb for the musical style, and instrumentation and vocal harmonies are really nice. [ Reply to This ]

way to go man - this is so good it hurts. Expect to be included in some xmas emails this year. Gives new meaning to a lump of coal for Cristmas. [ Reply to This ]

That nasty smell! Groovy, I'm transported to hell by your musical setting! Good job! Sounds like The Carpenters, I just want to be close to you...hehehe [ Reply to This ]

Costello for sure &mdash 12/09/06 - 06:16:33 PM
Excellent vocals indeed, and a very cool take on this interesting concept : ) I like the space that the solo occupies, and as someone said, the chord progression is very cool indeed. If downloads become available before Xmas, this will definitely join the other tracks on my CD for Xmas day.
Thanks!

one of, if not the best musical senses of humor on MacJams. I'll need to snag a copy of this when downloads are back. It's gonna go in the file with FFFF! [ Reply to This ]

Subversive &mdash 12/10/06 - 07:31:01 AM
It's very funny, obviously, but what really sells it is that it's a 100% professional production, so good that if a person were listening to this in the background they might mindlessly hum along or tap their toe to it, never realizing the humour. Now that's subversive, my friend! [ Reply to This ]
Nice! &mdash 12/11/06 - 01:26:14 PM
Absolutly Brilliant! &mdash 12/11/06 - 11:40:25 PM
This has got to be the most clever thing I've heard in ages!
Don't know why but, reminded me of something Cake might do. :)
Merry Christmas! [ Reply to This ]
Wickedly funny &mdash 12/12/06 - 10:54:09 PM
What kind of mind imagines what Christmas would be like in hell? I really like the dichotomy of the lyrics with the easy jazzy feel of the music. The bongo drums are a nice touch. Really nice job here. [ Reply to This ]

Brought a tear to my eye remembering all those fond Yuletide memories. Should definitely become a holiday standard. [ Reply to This ]

You've done it yet again; a well written, well performed, humorous piece of music. What more can one ask for?
I honestly don't know...
A great track!
