Description:
loop it or loose it challenge 2 song. completely out of loops except vocals which i apologize, for i am in no way a singer. i also altered horns and strings based off that loop to create the intro and low end bass and chorus melodies

Lyrics:
you know i've lost some friends and family members too,i like to think about the things we used to do. so heres a little tribute to those now up above, i thank you for the memories and i thank you for the love.
( brianna my nice)
a pocket full of hugs and kisses from a heart so true,i never new a braver girl to stand and fight like you , you silly uncle robert still echos in my mind, if only we could stop and turn back the hands of time.
( chorus)
memories of you all, always bring a smile, i know that there will be a day when i'll see you again.
( stanton my brother )
the day before you left we played football in the yard, just you and me, i know you let me score. it wasn't wearing air-force blues that made me realize, it was the time we spent that day that made you a hero in my eyes.
( gary radin, family friend )
you brought us in and treated us as if we were your own, you shared your wisdom, time and love, and opened up your home,
i miss those times together talking and sharing life, i know we'll talk again some day in that by and by.
( chorus )
( charles hank williams, my dad )
i remember all the camping trips we'd take, snow trips to the mountains, fishing on the lake, the road trip to canada i thought i would regret, was the greatest time i spent with you i never will forget, you saw in me and believed in me and always let me know, do your best and give your all, you always told me so, sometimes i thought you were a little tough but now i understand, i learned from you the things in life that helped make me a man
( chorus 2 x )

Nice effort &mdash 12/09/06 - 09:22:13 PM
The vocals are not that bad, the notes and the rhythm are right on. I can't make out all the words. Could you share the lyrics? As I sit here listening the second time through I like the chorus a lot and the verses make excellent use of the loop.

Be sure to post in Cikoppi's thread, the rest of the jammers should be listening.

It fits REALY well with the loop! haha, way better than mine. I tried to make it into a dance song....didn't really work out I guess.

You are too a singer. &mdash 12/10/06 - 12:41:32 AM
Next time quit hiding in the mix! I liked the simplicity of the loop in the verses, and then the chorus came and really shook it all up. Very moving, and very nicely done.

hiding in the mix &mdash 12/10/06 - 01:52:50 PM
thanks, i'll do a little remixing. i'm still very insecure of my vocals and not experienced with singing. your comments are very appreciated !!

if it is worth singing &mdash 12/10/06 - 04:26:15 PM
it is worth letting others hear the words. If you can sing somewhat on key and somewhat on the beat that may be enough if the vocals are heartfelt. Dylan is not a wonderful singer with less than stellar vocal qualities. Joe Cocker is a great entertainer with less than great pipes. The problem with recording and doing your own mixes is that we can hear ourselves as others hear us. It is not at all the way we hear ourselves everyday. Do others burst out laughing when you sing? Do dogs howl? Do babies cry? Do men toss their lunches? If not then maybe it is not that bad.

never truer words spoken &mdash 12/10/06 - 05:08:43 PM
thanks for the encouragement, but if you have any suggestions or recommendations for a better vocal mix i surely would appreciate it.
i have found the people here on macjams to be most helpful and supportive of each other. again thanks

cool work up &mdash 12/10/06 - 05:32:39 PM
enjoyed this tune of yours. i was reading here about bringing vocal to stand out in the mix. add proper compression to even out the voice, a low cut filter around 100 hz helps cut any bottom end. most important is to bring down the levels of everything else. then eq to taste, take away frequencies rather then boost, if you do boost keep it minimal. this isn't the end all for a vocal mix but it's a starter.

I think the vocals are great &mdash 12/10/06 - 10:49:57 PM
I just want to hear them better. The writing and emotion are the most important thing and that you've got covered along with a wonderful arrangement. The words are very moving - you've done something very special here.

bittersweet, heartfelt &mdash 12/11/06 - 10:45:15 PM
the mood is very nostalgic, bittersweet. i like the chorus - it nicely complements the loop in the lyrics. the horns work well. and i really like the backing piano part during the chorus.

but: bring up the vocal track!
