By Hollywood in Black
Mar 7, 2006, 07:20
As Tinseltown celebrates "The 78th Annual Academy Awards" this Sunday, one of the first Black photographers ever allowed to photograph the Academy Awards is also being honored by his friends as the "star" of a new documentary film currently under production.
For forty years celebrity photographer, Bill Jones, has captured images of Hollywood's Black Elite from behind the lens of his beloved Canon camera. This Sunday, Bill Jones will be on the scene once again as he has been for more than four decades. Following the event, be sure to stop by the http://www.hollywoodinblack.com w ebsite and take a look at the pictures that will be posted of the Nominees and the Award winners as seen through the lens of Bill Jones.
Throughout his long and illustrious career, Bill Jones has documented Black Hollywood history by taking hundreds of thousands of photos of America's foremost black entertainers, entrepreneurs, athletes and political figures. His work has been placed prominently in prestigious national magazines such as "Ebony" and "Jet." Many of Bills celebrity friends, like Halle Berry, Denzel Washington, Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby, Magic Johnson, Berry Gordy and Quincy Jones, credit Bill Jones with photographing the most important moments in their lives which have helped their careers and public image.
Finally, after decades of maintaining his anonymity in a town of the rich and famous, Bill is being celebrated for his own good works. To that end, there is a movement to assist Bill Jones in getting a "STAR" on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is currently the subject of a feature documentary, "Hollywood in Black: Through the Lens of Bill Jones." This "HIB" documentary acknowledges and honors Bill for his lifetime achievements and the positive influence he has made within the black community.
To further recognize Bill's accomplishments, HIB recently published a collection of Bill's greatest celebrity photos in a book entitled, "Hollywood in Black: 40 Years of Photography by Bill Jones, Volume One." Moreover, as an additional tribute to Bill, HIB has launched a non-profit charitable organization to help provide college scholarships and hope for inner city high school students.
HIB is co-producing the Bill Jones story with SOURCE Productions; a subsidiary of an LA-based company that wants to help bring the Bill Jones story to the world. Its parent company, SOURCE, Inc., is the founder of the LoyaltyShare Industry(TM) and has the exclusive rights to produce the HIB and Bill Jones stored value debit and loyalty cards that will be used to help fund the HIB and Bill Jones charitable organizations.

Thanks... &mdash 12/12/06 - 04:51:38 PM
for an audio documentary of the man, Bill Jones. I never heard of him before... but now I know him a little bit. Your tribute to him is dignified, as well as an enjoyable listen, which seems befitting the man.
