Description:
I have been working on capturing the sound of the acoustic guitar, and when I looked up, it was almost Christmas...

The guitar hear is an improv....the background blizzard sounds are loops created from acoustic guitar flourishes.

Merry holidays to everyone..,pray for peace.

Ed might want that guitar back soon ...... &mdash 12/13/06 - 11:22:41 PM
............... when he hears it can sound like this! This is a much better balanced sound (different micing?) than the last one you did on the Alvirez. There are some amazingly "on" notes and phrases - and the rest of it's not bad either. The ziti multi-track approach on acoustic works really well.
Another one for my Xmas CD - thanks Fran - best wishes for the "silly season" from down here.

Ahem. When I DO get it back.... &mdash 12/14/06 - 08:14:22 AM
I'm gonna want to hear all the "ziti secret acoustic guitar tips"...

You really are getting some interesting sounds, Fran, and you really are also checking out what this guitar, and acoustics generally, can do....

I really love how 'Silent Night' arises organically out of the flurry... I could imagine you musing over this tune and recording in front of a fire while the snow falls... if I didn't know where you really did it... Still, it's an improv that tends to conjure up some fantasy...

that was my intent &mdash 12/14/06 - 08:38:15 AM
i wanted it to sound like a blizzard at night, watching the snow fall thru the outdoor houselights, covering everything with silence...

I have been playing your baby for HOURS at a stretch...having an acoustic that doee not fight you is a revalation. I cannot thank you enough for the generous loan of this wonderful instrument!!

Next time i do one of these, I am going to LEARN the song i am playing first...

Very pretty how the melody we've all come to recognize and love emerges. One of my favorite guitarists, Monte Montgomery, plays an Alvarez and I adore the mid ranges he gets out of it. Watching him is like being hyptotized. Listening to this has a similar effect. Nicely done. D/L for some more holiday listening.

Beautiful &mdash 12/17/06 - 12:10:22 PM
I love the way the background guitar(s?) just kind of drone away soothingly in the background, and they seem to oscillate between the left and right speakers, creating a soothing underpadding to your beautiful improvisation.

thanks clark &mdash 12/17/06 - 12:58:14 PM
those drones were made using a small snippet from the improv...i selected and dragded to create loops...i made four sets(2 sets of 2) and staggered their placement along the time line...something i tried on a whim...and i love the sound. I am also discovering a whole pallette of colors i can create with Ed's guitar thru my signal processor...you can make a pretty convincing french horn...

thanks as alway for taking the time to listen to my little ditties!
