Keywords:
Roxylee (27)Hesitation blues (1)blues bar loops (1)swoony (1)
Description:
This is a 3:18 length blues bar loops number, with some extra piano parts penciled in. Just a fun little thing with some FX and my grandson's voice. With my swoony apologies to Jorma.

Lyrics:
My Hesitation Blues

Just walkin’ it out, tryin to understand
Lookin’ at my circumstances-
Not what I planned, but I’ll be all right now
Sometimes I wear my worryin’ shoes
(those worryin’ shoes)
‘cause freedom don’t come natural,
(No, child, it don’t)
and I been livin’ in them hesitation blues.
(Now, why’d I wanna go and do that?)

The road that looked so smooth at first
Was full of rocks instead (ow ow ow)
I tried walkin’ there, but there’s no sense
in being led yy people’s promises
or those daydreams in my head
The wide road is destruction-
I’ll walk the narrow path instead.

Play it for me, GarageBand
I’d play it myself, but I don’t know how!

I’ve heard of unconditional,
such love I tried to reach
It sank me, and I shipwrecked
Yeah, got washed up on that beach
But I’m all right now,
‘cause Jesus paid all of my dues yes, He did
He took that burden from me
I do not need those hesitation blues.
Take it away…….

I know my savior loves me,
and I know He loves you, too
(He sure does)
So take a look at Jesus,
He will always see you through
He loves unconditional
(Just the way you are)
Your heart He’ll never crush, nor bruise
(You can trust Him)
So read the Book and learn of Him
And lose them hesitation blues, that’s right.

so much fun! &mdash 12/14/06 - 01:57:09 PM
Very nicely done... there's so much to enjoy here. OK, as usual, nit picks first... I would have liked you to let go a little more in your singing and give even MORE emotion in there, it sounded like you were restrained a little on many of the verses (places like "Take it away.." etc.) Also, the blues-piano pencilling got a little muddy here and there, but in some ways, with the great clips of grandson there, I began to envision the 1-year-old reaching up and "helping" on the piano. But on the positive side, this was a well-put-together piece, fun to listen to, really great singing and harmony as usual, sparse and clear, and the little sfx and snippets of the young one were smirky fun. And I assume you wrote the music and lyrics? (I don't know who "Jorma" is.) And it is not too preachy, which means I can Fave it! :-) You are doing so well with this stuff now!

Drakonis

Why, thank you, sir Drak &mdash 12/14/06 - 04:25:02 PM
I am glad you liked this. Yeah, I held back a bit because I REALLY wanted to get this thing up today and a kid was sleeping in the other room. Also, my mic has been inconsistent, so I needed to get this all done in one take. To answer your questions, yes,I wrote it. I apologized to Jorma (Kaukonen ) because he (among others) sang the Hesitation Blues song. Hearing his version gave me the idea for this one. "I do it, I do it. <G>

You are a closet HOT TUNA fan! I personally don't think ol' Jorma will mind at all.

Nice going Rox. You really stuck your neck out on this one, but the end result is really very nice (and a whole lot of fun as well).

So...you gonna split the royalties for this one with your grandson? LOL!

Be well!

I freely admit it, I get swoony when I hear ole Jorma sing Genesis. (the acoustic version). Split the royalites with the baby? Naaah... all I have to do is give him cookies. It's my gramma job. :-) Thank you for your encouraging comments, Mike. I want to brrrrranch out musically, try different genres. I'm glad you think I pulled it off. :-)

I tried to convey a lot in a short song and I'm glad you liked the lyrics. Harmony, yeah, I need to do a harmony song soon. Maybe the baby will chime in. <G>

(I am all thumbs today) And this is the most refreshing blues, uplifting tune I have heard in I don't know how long. Roxy... you rocks.... I am amazed at your GB piano playing... how cool. And I love your lyrics with which I am identifying.

should have a happy ending in the Christmas season when songs of hope abound. (like your and RcAndrew's version of Silent Night-awesome!) Thank you for listening and commenting. It does my heart good to hear you say that this was refreshing and uplifting. I wanted it to be like David in the Psalms-We may be surrounded by troubles and loss, but God always lifts us up. :-)

ROOTY KAZOO &mdash 01/06/07 - 06:27:48 PM
that was really fun. the loop you chose was a good solid one, and i liked the up close and personal mic'ing of your rich voice. sweet harmony, strong presence, fun little journey down a sonic stream. i cracked up when the baby did! wonderful to hear a kazoo again - i've been wondering what's been missing in my life. now i know! ;) anne

I had fun with this. Thank you for noticing the kazoo. It cost me less than $3 and is a fun, little portable instrument that I play when I feel silly. I'm glad I got the baby's voice. I can use it to blackmail him when he grows up. LOL
Thank you for stopping by. :-)

Hi Roxylee &mdash 01/06/07 - 07:44:38 PM
This is great. Some great reminders in here. I think the words are great and the singing and harmonies fit really well. I'm not too techy but the mic sounds ok to me. You really do put the effort in to your writing and it shows.

Thanks Roxylee
Best Regards
Steve

Hi Roxy,

I haven't been around to your page in a while... looks like I have some listening to do!

I really like what you've done here. YOu can tell you really can fun making it as i had fun listening... I thought the sound fx were uncanny and really addeed a certain dimension.. the only downside I see (which was aleady mentioned) was the penciled piano (though you did very well considering). It made it a little mirky at bits but not at all unbearable... more of a little... distracting... however, the idea was certainly put accross... anyways, not bad for someone who claims to not have much musical talent! (I think there is more there than you realize... it takes musical talent to be able to distiguish want does or doesn't sound good ya know ;).

Blessings,
Aaron

Long time no hear! Thank you very much for your comments on this. It was fun to add the baby's voice and other effects, also I wanted this to be upbeat.
I wouldn't know where to start to fix the murky penciled in piano; I don't hear where it's messed up. <G> Hopefully, I'll get better at it, also ask others o listen before I post it. Thank you for stopping by! :-)

thoughts from the bull... &mdash 01/30/07 - 10:09:16 PM
this is the last thing i am hearing before retiring for the evening.

what a wonderful way to close a good, tho typically rough, day.
funny enough, I "hesitated" before clicking the play button, as i really
just wanted to go to bed. but, i also knew if i didn't listen now, i might
not hear it too soon.

this was light and pleasurable, and i adored the voices and the little
treasures of sound throughout, not to mention your wonderful delivery
and the music.

good night and thank you, Roxylee!

your voice - i always wanted a vibrato like that - how can i get one? when you tripled up the harmonies on the very last bars sounded gorgeous.I think you may have inspired me to start recording some more blues stuff.well done

Thank you, RG &mdash 02/07/07 - 08:39:09 AM
Wow, I just went and listened to your voice. You don't need no steenkin vibrato- you sound great. :-) (I don't know how I got that; i just sing that way)
Thank you for listening. If you like the 3 part harmony, some of my other songs have that. Maybe I can sing harmony with you someday? Thank you for stopping by, and I'm glad you liked this.

Hah! I am smiling as I hear this, it's so filled with good feelings! Some really nice playing by your pianist, G.B. Love that kazoo solo! Maybe the first one I've heard here, but hopefully not the last. Love the harmony at the end. You sound a bit like Rita Coolidge!

Okay, this is gonna sound like an odd comment, but the line, "Yeah, got washed up on that beach," well I had to check the lyrics to make sure what the last word was because it was very close to sounding like something else (that would have been totally inappropriate for the song!). I guess if you were ever to redo this song, the thing to do would be make sure you really enunciate well on the word 'beach'!

I really like this.

Ack! &mdash 07/13/07 - 10:11:09 AM
It doesn't sound like the B word to me; I hope no one heard that and was offended ! I'll have to be more careful in the future. Thank you for listening and for your very nice comment. I'll have to get out my kazoo and fool around with it some more. I'm due for a humorous song again, after that war thing. <G>
