Description
Well, I've been working on this since November. It has gone through many, many iterations. I wasn't satisfied with any of them. And, I'm still not liking my voice. :/ I've scrapped this about 3 or 4 times all together. All the previous versions, I felt, just didn't do this wonderful carol justice.
Finally, I decided on the much simplified version heard here.
This is my favorite carol of all time. I think, more than any other carol, the lyrics Roquemaure came up with completely and absolutely capture what Christmas is all about.
The one line in particular, "Fall on your knees," does it for me. I can just picture angels appearing to the shepherds that night. what would have been your reaction?
Merry Christmas everyone.

Lyrics
O Holy Night
Cappeau de Roquemaure (1847)
O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Savior's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night, O night divine!
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming,
Here came the wisemen from Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friend.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before Him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before Him lowly bend!
Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains He shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in His name all oppression will cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus we raise
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! O, praise His name forever!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
