Description:
This is our dog Lily who we trained to sing 'Jingle Bells.' As you can see by the photo above, we just about completely tuckered her out with all of the training, then multiple takes to get everything just right. She is working on 'Oh Holy Night' right now, as she heard the many excellent versions here on MacJams, and decided to put her own pawprint on this fine piece. In the meantime, enjoy Lily's 'Jingle Bells', and Happy Holidays to everyone, from Lily and the band!

Lyrics:
woof woof woof, woof woof woof, woof, bark woof woof woof.
woof woof woof woof woof woof woof,
woof woof woof woof woof, bark.
woof woof woof, woof woof woof, woof, bark woof woof woof.
woof woof woof woof woof woof woof,
woof woof woof woof woof, woof.

The usual

GarageBand, of course.

LOL- &mdash 12/18/06 - 07:58:12 PM
Today, one of our teachers wasn't really sure that I hadn't actually trained Lily to really bark Jingle Bells in sequence. Although she's a smart dog, she's not THAT smart.

Neigh, Neigh - &mdash 12/18/06 - 10:36:36 PM
Oops, gotta watch who I'm talking to. Actually, I played this for my kdg through 4th graders today, and one of the little girls said I should teach a horse how to sing, because she loves horses and it would sound beautiful!

I especially like &mdash 12/18/06 - 09:03:15 AM
the bark after the woof in the 3rd line. Gee, i wish I could get my cats to meow a song. Kristy, this is cool and 'm putting it on my MJ Christmas CD.

Lily is honored &mdash 12/18/06 - 10:41:37 PM
to be on your Christmas CD. She worked hard to get those barks interspersed between the woofs with just the right timbre. Glad you enjoyed it!

Arf! &mdash 12/18/06 - 09:12:59 AM
This has such a nice bass line.

The dog's got talent, too!

Thanks &mdash 12/18/06 - 10:43:59 PM
As the bass player, I'll take that as a compliment, and pass your compliments on to Lily as well!

Nice take on a, a-hem, classic! Nice that your pup has a willingness to put up with all that :)

Merry Christmas!

Yes, &mdash 12/18/06 - 10:32:19 PM
She sometimes seems a bit jaded by all the fuss about the holidays, but was willing to perform this song and have it posted.

If I just added a few more synth violins and jingle bells It might be cheezy enough to sell. Actually, my kids had a really bad CD called 'Bark the Herald Angels' or something like that about 8 years ago, with a whole bunch of singing dog Christmas songs on it. I almost went crazy!

Heheh... &mdash 12/19/06 - 10:32:26 PM
An original and up and coming talent. My only nit is that the woof in the 14th measure was slightly off key, as well as slightly off beat...
but hey.... it's a dog! So congrats Lily. An extra helping of Alpo for you tonight. Hmmm? What's that you say? You gotta go walkies?! KRISTY!!

Merry Christmas, teacher....

Alpo - yes there's the ultimate reward, &mdash 12/19/06 - 11:14:36 PM
Although Lily is actually partial to people food for treats. She got a meatball tonight. Oh, and Lily doesn't do walkies - She does 'drag your owner down the streeties' for her exercise regime.
Thanks for your comments!

Cute &mdash 12/21/06 - 07:02:23 PM
This was fun to listen to!

I'm curious--What did Lily think of the finished recording?

Glad to see you about again! &mdash 12/21/06 - 08:34:59 PM
Lily is always a little self-critical of her singing. However, she did give me permission to post this, and helps me check out the website every day. She was a little crushed by the 5 and 6 ratings by one voter, but she'll have to learn to deal with that sort of thing I guess. In general, though, she's quite pleased with the way the song turned out.

LOL &mdash 12/22/06 - 07:11:39 PM
Cute song ... and a cute dog.

Does she like to go "dashing through the snow?"

Dashing, digging and destroying &mdash 12/23/06 - 09:39:46 AM
Lily's part hound, part rottweiler, and part other breeds. She's happiest when she can get a good three mile walk at least every other day. Today is the first day this year we have a few inches of snow. We'll see how she responds - last year, she'd do things like stop in the middle of the street, go to a ditch and bury her nose into the snowbank and pull out a dead bird. yuch!

Love it! &mdash 12/31/06 - 07:53:18 AM
That is one talented dog.

And I love the backing track. It's so unapologetically "auto-accompaniment." (And I mean that in a good way!)

A fun listen, Kristy.

John, thanks for your comments &mdash 01/01/07 - 12:20:47 PM
Auto accompaniment is just about the level of art Lilly and I are at, right now. This is one of those things I did for laughs, and to play for the kids at school after we finished our Winter concerts. The old familiar, silly stuff is what the kids enjoy, too.

Ruff! &mdash 01/01/07 - 04:18:37 AM
Hi KJ - that is about one of the sweetest tracks I've ever heard - I just played this to my wife, who freaked over it!

Is Liliy up for collaborations?!

LOL

Thanks for listening, Steve &mdash 01/01/07 - 12:29:29 PM
I'm glad your wife enjoyed this track. Unfortunately, Lilly is a little bit shy about performing with other artists, so a collab isn't possible right now, but I'll let you know if she changes her mind.
Happy New Year!

can I buy a puppy if your doggy has any? and did you know dogs bark according to their country of origin? in Spanish it would be: gua! gua! gua!
