Description
We found a poem written by a teen on a scrap of paper blowing around in the street in Brooklyn. It was poignant, sad, truthful and melodramatic. We edited them a little. This is the result. Lead Vocals by Matt M.

Lyrics
Tell Me a Secret
© Anonymous 2005

Sometimes I want to kill myself slowly
Over shit that doesn’t matter
And the pen and the key cannot express my rage
Cannot express my deadly rage

Tell Me a Secret

Never to see the light of day
That I try to avoid like life itself
I try to weave these words into webs
That I can live within

But life and love all over
Interrupted is my flow of blood
Blew through the hands of hate
Thick and black forever gone, erased and gone.

The demons in my head are banging
Banging to get out
Screaming in there, screaming in their torment
Escalating to infinity

I'm impressed!
Crisp production - tight and confident. The lyrics are particularly chilling to me (I'm a school psychologist by trade), and I've seen too many kids make some really disastrous decisions for themselves, their family and friends. The way you've turned their poetry into solid lyrics for a solid song is very impressive. I really hope they somehow have a chance to hear this sometime. Very well done - top playing and singing - harmonies work really nicely, and the simple solo is perfect for the rest of the song.

Thanks for listening. Yeah, when Matt played this song to his niece, who is 13-something, she took a moment after it ended, then turned to him and asked, "Is everything OK?"......

The solo is simple. Sometimes I like to just hear the TONE of the guitar, not necessarily a bunch of notes. Simple can speak volumes.

Sad...
...That in these times we live in, our children feel so hopeless.

Strong production. Sweet acoustic guitar tones. Excellent vocal harmonies. I just wish the subject matter could be more positive. Not a knock on you guys, just a statement expressing my thoughts on the state of the current generation.

If you have kids, hug 'em and let 'em know you love 'em.

sad but true
Teen angst has been around since the dawn of time I think. I for one still have reams of dark verse in a box somewhere , but hey, I turned out alright. Didn't I? Come' on now, didn't I? Hey where did everybody go? ..;-)

This poem was just so direct and dug so deep, it really resonated with me.

Vic,
Yeah, I guess it's just the artist in me. Every little scrap piece of crap on the ground I find beautiful and endlessly fascinating. But this was a gem, and needed to be captured. There is this great magazine that gets published about 4 times a year called FOUND that is entirely made up of writings people just found on the ground. It is amazing!

Radio song
This is good, I can imagine this one on the radio. I like the lead guitar in this song. Man you're one professional muso.

Teenage Wasteland
Sure, teen angst is not going to vanish, for Rock's sake. I liked the way you crafted this lost poem into such a nifty balad. Very good song, production perfect, guitars great. Professional. Matt has a great voice, while I found singing, on some words, a tad overdone. Less expressivity gives, to my taste, a stronger emotion. The guitar solo is just perfect.

Thanks for stopping in. Been trolling around your page. Kind of outside your genre, so I appreciate your input even more. I have a few more experimental cuts to post soon. I'll drop you line, they are more in the loop-sample-lo-fi park, I'd love to hear what you think. In the meantime try "Spymaster" it's kind like what's coming up. Ciao.
