Description:
New York City’s third water tunnel will be penetrating into the very depths of Lower Manhattan in the next few months.

Such a phallic description has perhaps never been more appropriate than for the tunnel – a 50-year, 60-mile, $6-billion project where currently only men work.

Water Tunnel Number 3, 600 feet below ground, is so low that reportedly even rats don’t dare show their face. About the only species to be found is a sandhog – the name for the workers who have been toiling in eight-hour shifts since 1970. They expect to be finished in 2020.

Wow great sounds &mdash 12/20/06 - 11:39:52 AM
Absolutely perfect sound, crisp and clean, probably seriously unlike the working conditions of the 'sandhogs'. Production values are utterly perfect to my old ears. There is a quiet plaintive undertone thats very effective.

Thanks for the comment &mdash 12/20/06 - 12:47:12 PM
I am happy that you listened so carefully and closely. I wanted the "melody" of this piece to be carried by the bass and the synth to carry a counter melody to evoke the feeling that in the underground world everything is different than what we have come to expect on the surface. The play of light is different, the sound is different, the work is different, the life is different.

nice production. i dig the beat! a light dance feel to it, reminds me a little of "Ace of Bass" somehow (i liked them a lot at one time).

the echoes are just right. i really the sounds you've assembled here. it seems to really fit your subject.

thanks!

Soft synth journey &mdash 01/26/07 - 09:55:57 AM
Excellent soundscape, rhythmic wash. Reminds me of Ray Lynch in textures. Very nice.

thanks so much for this visit and comment on a song that I posted a while ago. I'm glad you liked it and will look up the person you mentioned because he is not known to me.
