Description:
Haven't heard a song about space and spacemen for a while?

Lyrics:
Space Cowboy

drifting blind in darkness
sailing in the sea of space
the farther that i go
all the memories fade
old photo of me
i look so tiny
does the photo remember me

space cowboy rides on
searching for setting suns
thought i had a mission
purpose long forgotten
i'm set adrift alone
million light years from home
how i miss that third stone

chorus 1

i'm just a space cowboy
darkness more that i can stand
i'm just a space cowboy
riding the milky way

stars and sun come and go
lost radio contact years ago
blackhole drifter goes numb
where did i go wrong
captain kirk would be proud
foggy as a nebulus cloud
i wish i could come down
major tom how he fell
he burned up just as well
this could be my graveyard
my coffin at warp speed
the universe is determined
from now til the end of time
i'm looking for a sign

chorus 2
darkness more than i can stand
i'm just a space cowboy
space cowboy rides the milky way

chorus 2
i'm just a space cowboy
darkness more than i can stand

merry christmas from space &mdash 12/22/06 - 04:43:36 PM
you know i didn't even think of the recent space station repairs. that would of been a good approach on lyrics. i'm going to keep that in mind somewhere down the road. thanks for enjoying and have an excellent holiday!

Those jangling guitars I always love... &mdash 12/21/06 - 10:12:50 PM
...are keeping their jangle and bite, while also getting smoother as regards production....

The whole production is smoother and tighter...

Vocals, lyrics, melody are all strong....

Gotta label those mp3's, though, and put your graphics, which are cool, in the file... For those of us growing a collection....

since i didn't post a holiday tune i guess the jingle jangle will have to surfice. your comments and direction does help me in achieving better production and mixing. the mp3's i load up are labeled. odd if you're not seeing it as such. file on song graphics? i'm clueless. hope you and your's have a wonderful holiday season.

lovely lead &mdash 12/22/06 - 05:21:32 PM
Really nicely produced - very Bowie - very, very Bowie! Maybe a bit muddy in the chorus, but I'm sure that's the feel you were after. The acoustic guitar part works well, and the echoey guitar fits perfectly.

you can't create a space man song without a bowie influence. partially intentional also. (note the major tom reference). the back vocals where intenional set back for ambiance more then up front. there are alot of guitars at those points doing different things. sometimes you can't have your cake a nd eat it to. Thanks and have a happy holiday.

Oh man.... &mdash 12/23/06 - 12:22:08 AM
....a total New Wave flashback. I agree with Neil, but maybe Bowie doing a cover of Peter Shilling's "Major Tom." Love the sound and the lyrics. Very haunting really. Loved it. Definitely coming home to live in my iPod.

thanks from the milky way &mdash 12/23/06 - 01:45:44 PM
"major tom" that was the song i was trying to remember. goes to show you can't do a spaceman tune without the bowie guidelines. funny coincidence, last night i saw a concert clip of bowie performing "hello spaceboy" or was it "welcome". totally forgot that one too. thanks for taking the time to comment and listen. & have a happy holiday.

sorry dave i can't do that &mdash 12/24/06 - 01:32:20 PM
er, back to earth. thanks for beaming in. laid down all the tracks very quickly. but it took a while to come up with lyrics. the music had a space sound to it but i kept trying to write a high plains drifter thing that wasn't fitting so well. finally hit me.

had a hunch.. &mdash 12/24/06 - 01:37:52 PM
that might come up. it is a catchy term though. i'm happy and sad about the solo. it was the first pass and turned out well, that was the happy part. for the fact that i couldn't keep playing was the sad part. you know how it goes. Thanks very much and have a happy holiday!

Spacey....boy &mdash 12/26/06 - 07:50:56 PM
Cool sound Vic, always enjoy your songs, very nice overlining lead, I have a sneaky suspicion we could come up with a dueling spanish guitar frenzy-MJG

thanks! &mdash 12/26/06 - 09:37:43 PM
A lot of delays, reverbs and auto swells make for a good spacey song! then theres the eq'ing so it doesn't go dark (like in space). thanks for the time to listen! frenzy to frazzled.

In my iPod &mdash 12/27/06 - 03:24:23 AM
directly, for my daily trip to my cutting room ! A great song that will shorten it by half. I really dig the lyrics and the guitar solo. Great job, Vic.

of course if you play it twice in a row then you'll be at the cutting room in now time. kind of like a transporter. thanks for the listen(s) and comments. gratfully appreciated.

Lighters up!!! I can't believe I missed this one. Thanks for calling my attention to this Vic. Vintage Vicar. Lots of Floyd and Moodies here. Mid lead solo is wonderful! Absitively love the outro....

Be well bro!

spacetime &mdash 02/17/07 - 09:56:08 PM
how odd. i was just writing elsewhere about "third stone from the sun" - and i come across this space song. it must be time for space for me right now.

i like what you did with the vocals not quite sure what i'm hearing, a mild flanging perhaps? but it works nicely.

i'm glad i found this! i'm exploring older songs, there's SO MUCH MUSIC HERE. it's rather overwhleming...

thanks!

I get a "Bowie" feel when I hear this. I like the solo. I also dig that synth guitar thang. Great song!!
