I'm younger than you, and did not grow up in the US, so Jimmy Durante is unknown to me, but I can sort of imagine 1930s movies, probably a musical production, that would have this song in it. Ok, I can not imagine that, maybe if you cut this song in two, then both halves could be in an old movie.
This is very creative stuff. Every time it sounds like something familiar you give it your own twist. Well done.
