Keywords:
guitar (877)jazz (385)improvisation (65)
Description:
I often get snippets of melodies when I'm watching TV and playing/practicing guitar mindlessly at the same time. Something instinctive takes over when the mind is preoccupied and little gems tumble out. This is based on one such melody.
This is all GB in a Bass (entered via keyboard), Drums (modified loops), Live Rhythm Guitar, Live Lead Guitar quartet setting. I used my Aria DS 175 f-hole arch-top for both rhythm and lead guitar with the Line6 Toneport USB interface.

Hardware:
iMacG4

I'm glad you liked it, Smokeyvw! It's always nice to get a little appreciation, especially when I particularly like it myself!

I love bass solos, Karmatoburn, and the pitchbends make them sound a little more real.

Which bass sound did you use ? It sounded better than midi bass usually does...

Great Playing !

Thanks for the interest! &mdash 12/29/06 - 12:16:30 AM
Al, I start with any 'Walking Upright Bass' loop, and re-enter the notes or change them to suit my chord progression. I keep the velocity around 100 so as not to get too much attack, but enough to sound real.

Wow. What more can I say? The guitar and overall composition is so stunningly good, that I only really noticed the comp. bass when you went for the breakdown. But no matter - that's some damn fine fretwork there, fella. DAMN fine!

High praise, Dreadmon! &mdash 12/30/06 - 01:49:05 AM
It took me many years to get my playing clean enough while playing fast runs, but it's so much fun! I'll take a look at the mix of the bass, if it needs to be a little louder or some more high end perhaps.

I can't stop my leg! I just saw your name pop up an decided to check you out. Nice job with the brushy drum loops, sounded like a club I used to go to in the Mile High City. The guitar has an out-front presence, where that kind of personality belongs. If I had a goatee, I'd be stroking it. Cool.

great sound &mdash 03/22/07 - 05:59:02 PM
Loving the tone you got out of your guitar and also the octaves. It is truly hard (at least for me) to do those as freely as you do. This song still has a little of a Django Reinhardt/Les Paul sound to it. Great tune. Keep up the good work
