Great job! &mdash 12/28/06 - 08:42:47 PM
YOU'RE A COMPOSING MACHINE!!!

Wow! This is unlike anything of yours I've ever heard; I think the only common denominator is the ostinato figure you have going through this (the slow, languid chord progression you have in the left hand); I think some of your compositions have ostinati (?).

It definitely brings the Gershwin 3 Preludes to mind, but you've taken it in its own, wonderful direction. This is just fantastic! Wonderful work, very moody, very pretty.

Great job!

I love Ostinato... &mdash 12/29/06 - 01:16:41 PM
and use it quite often in my work. I've always been drawn to it whenever I heard it used in classical or rock. It’s a bit of a crutch sometimes have stop myself from using it because it's so natural to me. I'm by no means a pianist but I enjoy playing the keyboard and this gentle piece was a pleasant surprise from that play.
As always thanks for listening and for the kind words Clark,
-Charles/Bowman

Coming from an accomplished pianist and composer it means a lot to me that you enjoyed Magnolia.
Thank you Tobin,

unusual but lovely &mdash 01/06/07 - 12:26:02 AM
Quite relaxing. Did you tweak the piano instrument?

Piano tweeking &mdash 01/06/07 - 10:16:53 PM
Yes I did. It's from the GB symphony jam pack but like virtually every instrument in it I modify it to my own liking and usually have several types of the ones I use.
I notice your piano has a very full bodied sound. Is it the Yamaha or Logic's synths?
Also I didn't mention your playing in my review of California Surf. As usual it's remarkable. I took brief lessons as a young boy and regret not continuing. But I'm determined to improve.
Best,
Bowman
