He is a very talented guy and I instantly fell in love with this piece. The lyrics of the song are quite personal and well...sad! It's a pleasure to share this with all of you. As you can see I'm exploring where my voice belongs in the music world and trying to grow lyrically as well. It's hard!
ENJOY!
p.s. Remix by Jayman
Lyrics:
Where do we go from here?
A part of me is dying
Where do we go from here?
I look at you and I feel nothing
Feel nothing at all
Repeat
I'll take a picture and I'll capture this moment
To remember when things made sense and everything worked out
I'll take a picture and capture this moment
keep in my capsule these precious memories of mine
I want to a be a child again
Where do we go from here?
A part of me is dying
Where do we go from here?
I look at you and I feel nothing
Feel nothing at all

Very intriguing intro, the orchestration here is very dramatic and suits where you've taken the song lyrically. Your melodies here are well-developed, you weave together with the underscore quite well. You've got a great voice, and I'm not a huge fan of the flange - it takes away from the pureness of your instrument. Maybe if you used it only for certain phrases instead of throughout, it would work a little better, but right now - it's just in the way of the excellent work you're doing vocally. This is a very nice interpretation and invention based on what is a highly abstract piece of music and lyrically, melodically, emotionally you bring it to life impressively. Did you write the lyrics too? I didn't check the other site - but they are sad indeed! You sound very vulnerable on this song - way to bring that out! Nice job all around. [ Reply to This ]
thanks &mdash 12/29/06 - 07:57:39 PM
I did write the lyrics. Very real...very current. It was nice to find a piece of music that made me feel like I could express it. Dreadmon you really know what you're talking about..which is intimidating. What is great about your comment is you've validated that I did a good job vocally on this. I was a little insecure about it...almost like I sounded off key or too whiney sometimes. Thanks for listening that you great feedback. [ Reply to This ]
I LOVE YOUR VOICE!!!! &mdash 12/29/06 - 08:19:33 PM
AND THIS MUSIC!!!! The lyrics are sad, yes. It feels so multi dimensional...........I love all the instuments, and the deep base drum? sound. Your voice is georgeous, and is very touching. You convey your feelings well, and the parts like when you sing "precious", i like how your voice undulates (if that is the word):) This is top knotch production.
Johan's music is very dramatic and interesting, and your voice mixes well with it :)* I hope to hear more like this!!! Excellent collab!!!!

I luv the piece .... &mdash 12/29/06 - 11:59:25 PM
... but was greatly distracted by the excess "noisiness" mixed into it .... your vocals are great but lost in what I think was a flange of sorts .... I'm not very good at critiquing what it is I am hearing that makes it sound too buzzzzzy .... as I am a novice when it comes to this sort of thing .. but the song itself is so good and the vocals are truly outstanding .. I would lov to hear a little clearer mix ... [ Reply to This ]

nice collab. sounds like your not afraid to reach out and vocalize on different genre's/tempo's etc. this one came out great. you fitted the refrain/verse in seamlessly. [ Reply to This ]

well actually I am pretty afraid when I try new genres..then I think to myself..."what is the worst that could happen?" The pressure becomes lifted when I accept and embrace the fact that I don't really know what I'm doing. Thank you for your support friend! [ Reply to This ]
Stutteringly great &mdash 12/30/06 - 01:11:54 PM
You know, it never ceases to amaze me, you can be on this site for months and miss stuff as good as this. Another great vocal and classy production. I Spike pointed me in your direction and I'm sooo glad (he reckons you should sing on my track 'Gentle Machine' - I can see why he thinks it'd suit you).
Oh, and i like someone who can't be arsed to put in too many keywords - it's something I always struggle with. Anyway, i'm off to work my way through the rest of your tracks.

Thank you for the big compliment! I am pretty insecure about my lyrics. They're very true but they're also very plain. You will get no depth with me unfortunately. It's sad because I'm a pretty deep person who lacks in letting is out through words. We'll see though. Thank you for listening. [ Reply to This ]

This song, and I'm positive I'm not the only listner that feels this way! I can picture you, sitting at a bedside, comforting a loved one, by running your hands over the back side of their hair/head, letting them know, what you had is over, however, you won't forget them. For the treasure is in your heart forever. Beautiful song, remember you told me to trust in my voice, you have no reason to doubt yourself, Your Voice/Lyrics are so commforting to listen to. Your friend Johan is very talented also. Thanks for sharin-MJG [ Reply to This ]

The music is fantastic. Wonderful mood. A must have:)
Your singing is very pleasing. I agree with dreadmon about the use of effects. There is really no need to put your lovely voice in a sphere of effects.
I can see that there are parts that may be tricky to sing... If so, you can choose an alternative melody to avoid the troubled path:) [ Reply to This ]
thank you! &mdash 01/29/07 - 09:04:44 AM
you know it's funny when you mention effects. I'm not used to hearing my voice with effects and when i'm not used to something I tend to not like it. This is good practice to hear what it's like to add and take away from my voice in a constructive manner. Thanks for the feedback! [ Reply to This ]

Man, can't believe that I haven't been on to you. This is an intriquing piece of music, indeed. Loved how it started out. Really 'captured' me, and from the first note. Your voice is just a stunning! It is likely, that you got way more than your money's worth regardless of how much you may have paid for them.
Whiney... I think 'expressive' was the word that you were looking for. And the entire piece does express this particular state. And to the point that I got some major chills of shiver -
Your voice belongs on this bed of music, because it was made for you.
This is beautifully arranged. I loved the instrumentation on it.
Excellent job! Both of you and John.
Thanks for sharing this. You have a gorgeous soul.

You know when you wrote this comment..I was in such a bad space I never really reflected on how thoughtful and meaningul it is. Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to me. I don't have much to say that would make any sense because I'm completely touched. Thank you. [ Reply to This ]
great! &mdash 01/05/07 - 07:45:56 PM
Very nice, from the fascinating sound bed to the expressive vocals. I thought the vocal effect was sort of Imogen Heap-like, and that's not half-bad. I don't think your voice needs any sort of treatment, but adding the effect does plant it in the electronica realm of the sound bed. Good job! [ Reply to This ]
thank you! &mdash 01/29/07 - 09:16:41 AM

Linda, you've done a wonderful job on this song. Cheers to Johan for a deeply delightful orchestral sound, it's very nicely paired with your voice. The lyrics are powerful and emotional, they feel very sincere. I thought I heard a little camera sound, especially in the beginning. Then you said "I'll take a picture..." and it was awesome. If that was on purpose, kudos to both of you. If it wasn't, what a beautiful coincidence. You've shown to be very versatile in your singing, I look forward to hearing more from you. [ Reply to This ]
Achingly melancholic &mdash 01/11/07 - 08:01:02 PM
Had to listen many times - this track hooked me in from the start and left me longing for more when it finished. This track is so well arranged that despite the dramatic strings and quite heavy percussion effects, the instrumentation supports your vocal so well and manages to remain so very intimate. You've no need to worry about your vocal performance - your especial gift is conveying emotion which really brings the lyrics to life. Very moving.

Beautiful Voice! &mdash 01/13/07 - 11:32:30 AM
onesweetworld - you've got a great voice, and I love the way that the vocals have been mixed. I read a comment you made that said that you didn't get any depth out of your lyrics, that you were a little insecure about them. I think that happens to all of us, I was the same way. The more you write, the better you can hone your craft. Lately I've found myself "writing outside the box", well the box that I'm used to anyway. And it simply comes from having confidence in what you are doing. Keep working at it, and it will come! [ Reply to This ]
In the glitch &mdash 01/15/07 - 10:29:21 AM
What a refreshing sound! I've just been listening to another track on this site that was highly rated. I guess the lyrics were especially touching, but the vocals were out of tune, and the accompaniment the most drab middle of the road guitars ever recorded in indie rock.
And then this.... Your voice is absolutely lovely, and the harmony vocals are imaginative. The whole arrangement (remix?) is very creative. Better stay buddies with this Jayman character.
My compliments to all parties involved. [ Reply to This ]
the only criticism I have... &mdash 01/19/07 - 10:55:55 PM

I love the sound of this recording. &mdash 01/30/07 - 10:12:43 AM
Very pretty sound and the vocals blend together real nice. i envy anyone
who can sing so wonderfuly.
The lyric is so sad...
I have been feeling this way lattly. Battling with the happy child inside, who ran off to hide some time ago.
Just looking to find the kid who was always happy.
Generaly a happy guy but your tune turned up the emotion i've been heading off of late.
Its always cool to find music that so nails the mood in life.
Thanks.

empathy &mdash 01/30/07 - 10:48:19 AM
I'm glad I'm not alone with these feelings. Yeah...I guess you could say I've reached a difficult point in life. I look back at my childhood and remember days when my stresses seemed so insignificant. Everything is changing before me and the only thing I could sing at the time was something of that nature. I'm hoping it gets better. For now, I can sing my little heart out and let it be what it's supposed to be. Thank you Tim for stopping by!!! [ Reply to This ]

where do we go from here? to the top! &mdash 02/10/07 - 04:03:02 PM
Gosh, I'm pretty late to this party... can I still come in?
Johan is indeed a very talented guy, and I especialy love the style of songs he did with Etgilles. On iComp, I heard a couple of versions of this song with the addition of many other tallented artists. I must reckon... this one is amongst the very best I've heard.
Your vocalising has this quality of instantly charming the listener. And it's not only about your very great voice, but equally about the melody and the lyrics you created. Brilliant harmonies as well, which seems to have become one of your personal trademarks.
The question 'where do we go from here' is the splendid hook of the song, lingering on in my head for surely the rest of the day. I'll probably wake up with it as well :-) I'm also keen on the slightly far-eastern type of vocal melody, which turns the song into a kind of multi-cultural world-class track.
Oh... just one little nit: there seems to be quite some random noise on the mic. Not a big issue when mixed into the instrumental soundbed. It's only a bit disturbing in the more quiet parts, espacially at the very end of the song.
But apart from that: a BIG bravo on all levels. Don't worry where to go from here... it's just straight to the top.

Very interesting &mdash 06/15/07 - 07:30:20 AM
start on this to really reel in the listening I think. Cause I remember a camera sound on the beginning of a mega great tune that hit the air waves. This one has a lot of substance musically. So this tune seems to keep going with a lot of musical strength.
Would loooove to hear more from you in this type of style. Kind of sad lyrics but it works in this realm of context.
Way to go osw! [ Reply to This ]
