Description:
Co-wrtten with Deidre Kroener a song about everyone... That's Deirdre on the vox.

Lyrics:
Cuppa

Don’t let them see you bleed
Don’t tell them what you need
Don’t let them in
Or they will win

Don’t let them see you cry
Don’t answer if they ask why
Don’t let them know
Don’t let it show

Your friends are not your friends
They are living in misery
They are all going down and they’re looking for your company
You are just their cuppa tea

Every time you speak
They’re trying to see where you’re weak
You show them your wounds
They go get their spoons

Your friends are not your friends
They are living in misery
They are all going down and they’re looking for your company
You are just their cuppa tea

Listen to what they say
It’s tainted with jealousy
You show them what they lack
And can never get back

Your friends are not your friends
They are living in misery
They are all going down and they're looking for your company
You are just their cuppa tea
Oh misery loves company
Don’t tell them you heard it from me

.. what a great voice! I like the way you mixed the harmony vox too ... nice vibe to the tune. Ending was a little abrupt .. but it worked OK for me.

Good live feel &mdash 12/31/06 - 10:16:31 AM
The acoustic guitar sounds very good and together with the assorted perc it gives it a great live feel. Good playing and soloing.
The singing reminds me of Alanis Morisette, in other words... very good:)

Wow. &mdash 12/31/06 - 09:04:04 PM
This is a terrific song, for starters.

The lead and accompanying vocals are strong, clear, pure, emotional, not overdoing it... great phrasing and tone...

I love the acoustic guitar playing. Love it. The lead AND the rhythm playing is perfect, perfect for the song...

And the bass is tight and just enough, and the percussion the same...

The ending is abrupt, and of course that's intentiional and for dramatic impact, but it might sound better if the music stopped but the fader came down more slowly or something so it doesn't seem like the "air" of the song disappears quite that fast... Could be wrong of course...

AND...AND...I mean, AND...if you're going to write perform something THIS good, get a great graphic posted with it so those of who are going to download it and recommend it to our friends have something cool on our iPods...

[This is me crying bitter tears over here, he hinted broadly.]

Well. Then. Let me know when it's a CD then.

Ed

And put up a picture anyway...

It's heading for the iPod as I type... and that's a great graphic, as well... I appreciate that you did both of these things. I really love this song.

I'm jealous .. &mdash 01/01/07 - 07:36:22 AM
.. great song all round. I particularily like the quirky lyrics and sentiment (even if it could be interpretted as painting a rather bleak potrayal of MJers and their comments). Sweet guitar playing (reminiscent of "the Chain" by Fleetwood Mac at times) and sound and excellent vocals. Kudos.

I'm not tellin' what was going through D's head when she wrote these lyrics...

Wow. A really great song and production!

And thank you Ed for showing us to this tune! I second everything you say in your comment here, oh yes, that's a lazy way but you are saying it so well and clear .. there is not much chance of doing it better...

Great song. I read the words first, something I rarely do, and was immediately taken by them; very powerful. Everything about this is fantastic, and I look forward to hearing more of your music.

Glad you like this one.. it's a very quick production... we recorded it in like 15 minutes and I went on to add the guitar and back-up tracks immediately.. fun for us both

Super &mdash 01/02/07 - 09:38:22 AM
Fav'ed after just a couple of measures into the vox. Playing is just super clean, expert, and a very nice mix.

Tasty! &mdash 01/03/07 - 01:16:46 AM
Very nicely put together. The mix and production are top notch! Wish the lyrics were a little less bleak.....though I've been known to wrtie some bleak lyrics myself sometimes.

Very clean picking, overall tastefully done!

personal, intimate & immediately fav'd. "cozy" and the "warm fuzzies" apply, makes me think of a late night jam session with buckingham - nicks stopping by. Is Deirdre on Mj? shes has a remarkable voice.
