Description:
I composed this song tonight enjoying a nice and quiet evening before the New Year. I just imagined the night surf while sitting by the sand in Crystal Cove. It is a beautiful place.
I may have taken some ideas from Tchaikovsky towards the end of the tune but I am sure he would not mind.

A nice tune... &mdash 12/31/06 - 06:48:37 AM
The piece is very competantly played and it evoked black and white silent movies in my minds eye. It told a story in many small parts.

There seemed to be a bit of a kerfuffle around the three minute mark. As though your mind strayed at that point in the playing.

The various sections fitted each other very well.

I think that Tchaikovsky will rest easy.

Take care.

Hi Enrique &mdash 01/04/07 - 01:22:56 AM
Thanks for replying to my earlier comment.

I now understand why I had the feeling of this tune being varied themes/atmospheres, flowing into each other, in an almost spontaneous way. It WAS!!

I think that your improvisation skills are excellent and your musical style/technique are some of the best here on MJ's.

Have a great 2007.

R.

Lovely! &mdash 12/31/06 - 10:07:34 PM
Nice one Enrique. Somehow it echoes my melancholy mood this New Year's Eve. Pretty yet pensive this. Many thanks!

Happy New Year friend!

I'm in awe &mdash 01/02/07 - 07:16:10 AM
of anybody who can just play the piano anyway and this is really good. Lots of movement and variation. Not sure that Californian Surf comes to mind as it has a very European feel stylistically.

I liked it.

Cheers

Dick

Variations &mdash 01/06/07 - 12:47:03 PM
Starts out with a Joplin ragtime feel to it then you take this lovely theme through a half dozen different variations some quite beautiful. Didn%u2019t hear the Tchaikovsky but I did like it. Well done Enrique.

You Play Very Well &mdash 01/09/07 - 09:00:49 AM
This is very nice to listen to. Your skill on the piano is well developed. I wish I could play one tenth as well as you.

Hearing tunes like this one is inspiring.

Lovely Piece &mdash 06/17/07 - 02:06:29 PM
and what a range for improv!
I have just been listening to a few of the pieces, and to me, this is the nicest sounding from a recording point of view: Piano is bright and clear.

From other posts, I inferred that Ivory was a piano lib, which I just found and read about. Looks like it goes on my equipment wish list. (I use LE and Orch Jam Pack, and I have found the Steinway piano to be quite good--it plays much better than I do!)

(As far as what country the Surf hails from, I think that our California water has mixed many times with that on the beaches of Italy and Ireland, and has therefore been duly influenced. Certainly it is among the most beautiful in the world, and capable of inspiring beautiful music.)
