Description:
Once again I did another collab with the amazingly talented Leon. It was truly an honor to have shared ideas with him back and forth. The song is simple yet powerful. I think this is one of the best songs I've done.

Lyrics:
Music and Lyrics: Brandon
Vocals: Leon

[Verse 1]
The nights live long in winters
But holds a special place in my heart
When the snow falls upon your lips
With every beautiful touch
It surrenders my soul to you
and does not let it go willingly

[Chorus]
And now I see,
I see what it means to believe in love
I see, I see how it feels to reveal the truth
I can’t believe I’ve felt an ‘ever after’

[Verse 2]
The days live long in summers
But holds a special place in my heart
When the sun shines down on your smile
With every amazing kiss
It surrenders my mind to you
and does not let it find loneliness

[Chorus 2]
And now I see,
I see what it means to believe in love
I see, I see how it feels to reveal your love
I can’t believe I’ve felt an ‘ever after’

[Bridge]
I hear,
I hear it so clear
Sounds I hold dearest to me
I know,
I know in my heart
We’ll never part ways

[Chorus]

Brandon, you give me more credit than I deserve for this song. We had a lot of email exchanges about how to make this sound better, and your input even in the way it is sung and the harmonies is tremendous. I have to admit my voice projects well on this song, but that's in great part from your suggestions and recommendations. I agreed to sing this song since it has great lyrics and structure. Your simple yet delicate production and mix of the song just tops it all.

It was a great pleasure working with you, and two big thumbs up on the final outcome!

Great and beautiful &mdash 01/01/07 - 05:31:21 PM
A great and beautful song. And the production sounds completely professional as far as I can judge.

Really nice vocal work. And good dynamics. The song isn't "flat" but builds as it proceeds. It is alive. Things happpen. The final chorus is great great. This is like music to my ears!

Cori! :-) &mdash 01/03/07 - 01:59:09 PM
...Brandon has much to do with the build-up and structure of this song, and my voice tried to project that musical vision. We're truly satisfied with the result and I feel wonderful to know that you did notice and appreciate the nuances of the song. You have some of the deftest fingers on guitar and a most-admired musical sense, so you giving this song a good listen and a thumbs-up assessment is like a really big stamp of approval! From here on, I can brag that Cori has one of our songs in his fave list.

Amazing &mdash 01/02/07 - 09:58:53 AM
Just chiming in to say I agree with everyone about how wonderful this is. Very fine singing, and an amazing production; the drums seem particularly amazing. The only tiny thing I question is whether the harmonies should be a bit louder? They're often so faint that I can barely hear them, although from what I can hear, they sound great.

Hi, Clark! &mdash 01/03/07 - 02:16:34 PM
Thanks so much for taking time to listen to this little love song. Your musical resume certainly makes me ponder your every point. Your observation about the background vocals was actually one of the points Bran and I debated over (the word debate is an overstatement, I'd say). He wanted the background vocals softer and, as it is, it did turn out a little more submerged and heavenly. I had wanted it a little louder initially, but in some areas of the song the background vocals did tend to assert itself and drown out the lead vocals. So we settled at this level. We made those decisions based on vocals-only (without the background music) so the background vocals seemed to be too prominent. With the music on, the background vocals may not be all that overwhelming, as I now realize. I'll try to do some more adjustment in my own version and see how that turns out.

Clark, it takes your musical acumen to make those little suggestions and they are greatly appreciated!

MAGIFICENT!!!!!!!!!! &mdash 01/02/07 - 02:58:39 PM
Guys, I'm struggling to find superlatives for this.
Production, vocals, lyrics - all fantastic. Love the guitars on this, and Leon, your voice has never sounded better - such emotion and yearning.
If I'm being picky, I'd say that the only thing it's missing is a full orchestration, 'cause it's that type of song.
Please, please , please, more collaborations from you guys.

This track is without doubt chart material, I mean, top 10 stuff - it's that good.

I'm in awe.

Steve

Wow, Steve, your comment is enough to make my day everyday for the next week or so! I'm sure Brandon is grinning for ear to ear as well with your superlative comments! Of course, we are humbled to be praised this lavishly by someone as creative as you andthe other guys on this board. It sure was an effort born out of patience. Brandon and I had very frank but respectful exchanges via email about this song, and we're both glad at the end how this song turned out. I do have my own version with a little more acoustic overlay, a little more energetic rhythm and a different vocal ending, but this version does have a sentimental and romantic appeal, so I decided to have the other version posted much later . Thanks so much for your time to appreciate this piece. It means a lot to us!

That remark coming from a radio announcer, it must carry some weight! Yeah, this is pop through and through, but hopefully not of the bubblegum variety that becames stale after a few chewing. I listened to it a few million times before Brandon posted it, and I think I can still taste quite a bit of sugar in it! LOL. Thanks!

Hi Alfa! &mdash 01/03/07 - 02:58:08 PM
Was great chatting with you and Haribo last night over the topic of programmatic and structured musical education versus the free-directional style of real-life experience, the cultural clash of regimented academia versus the boldness and "anarchy" of modern, progressive music. Sounded like the title of a doctorate thesis, LOL. That was a wonderful exchange of ideas. Intelligent discussions like those argue against the notion that musicians just use half their brain (the right one, though :-). Anyway...in the end, beauty is in the ears of the listener. Thanks for appreciating this music as much as I have admired the beauty in yours!

Bran & Leon &mdash 01/03/07 - 02:30:44 AM
You guys really outdid yourselves. This is pro- quality. The harmonies are breathtaking. When the acoustic guitar and drums kick in, it's really fuflilling. In the second bridge when the strings come in and --is that a single note lead or horns?-- anyway there is a flanging or panning rapidly across the stereo field that is a little distracting. It happens swice in the song. Other than that little production quibble--it's ace!

[ Reply to This ]
You did notice it too... &mdash 01/03/07 - 02:24:49 PM
I had noted a brief clipping of the high notes in the last chorus where I sing "I SEE" and yes, it happens twice. It almost sounds like a "horn" you say, but that's my semi-falsetto vocal that clipped. I think the voume was turned up a little too much in that segment. Brandon can make a tiny bit of adjustment there, I guess.

Thanks for the listen and truly appreciate your appreciation and suggestion! Just listened to all your new entries too, and you ROCK ROCK ROCK, dude!

Gosh, this sounds professional! Brandon made a wonderful soundbed whereon Leon puts his neat vocals and harmonies. I'm not much of a 'mainstream' guy, but I can really dig it when it reaches THAT level of quality. Splendid job, boys!
