Here's the result of my first three hour session with my new toy - the Alesis AirFX. Santa brought it. Loops and the radio.
Narcissism is named after Narcissus, and both derive from the Greek word narke "numb" from which we also get the word narcotic. Thus for the Greeks Narcissus stood for vanity, callousness and insensitivity, as he was emotionally numb to the entreaties of those who fell in love with his beauty.

The AirFX is everywhere. All filtering was done live while recording. It's like a theremin for processing. It has an elecric eye sensor that reads hand movements in the air above it controlling x-y-z parameters of 50 patches that you select with a wheel. Kinda like the Kaos pad but cheaper and weirder.
The radio recording was what was on WOR when I went to do that track - they were talking about Curtis Sliwa and Donald Trump. [ Reply to This ]

a definate maelstrom of sounds. that meld wonderfully. this is a cool toy you've picked up. when i'm hooked up to the internet and have my monitors on i pick up a AM station very clearly, that i find annoying. but here its a funny pleasure. seems we are always turning the cheeck with your postings. very bipolar, but i like that. sometime the two of you shall meet. then i'll have to add a third cheek.

Excellent toy to have..... The rhythms on this sound amazing: smeary but very groovy too. I think the ultimate success of this will be in the reedit of the 'vocals' early in the song; but try to keep the tower of Babel effect at the end though where everythingmorphsintoasoundmorass!
