Lyrics
Rock'n'roll it was over
the very day your father
came rushing into your room
and said turn up the volume

Oh he's mad
He is bad
he's a rock'n'roll dad
are you glad
are you sad
to have a rock'n'roll dad

Torn T-shirt and pajamas
put the P.A back in Papa
if only he wouldn't brag
that he could roll a better fag

Oh he's mad
He is bad
he's a rock'n'roll dad
are you glad
are you sad
to have a rock'n'roll dad

ARGHHHH.....

What gives, daddio?
Het CJ - well, rock n roll this surely is. iIgotta admit, the guitar sample does grate a bit - not sure what you used , but it sounds really keyboard-like (maybe you meant this). It also dominates the mix, and the vocals are too quiet (but i like the distorted fx on this). Drums (are they loops) sound good, but a bit muddy.

So ... i think you should maybe remix this buddy, as i think the song is good, the lyrics are really funny (is 'fag' a double -entendre??) and there's a great punk attitude to this (The Stooges??).

I hope you don't mind the comments, but this can sound so much better. - but feel free to tell me to shove my comments where the sun don't shine!

thanks for your comment
It's not a guitar sample, actually, it IS played on the keyboard but I never managed the sound I wanted - only a real guitar could give me this, I think.

I'm not much of a perfectionnist when it comes to mixing. Or more exactly I want Garage band to sound like A REAL garage band, which is probably absurd. I am not much of a singer either, but I'm happy enough with the scream.

I have never remarked that "stooges" was almost synonymous with "Monggz". I wish there were more similarities.

CJ - I'm no expert, but I ualso sed keybooard guitar sounds on the chorus of The Only love Song i could write (which i posted last year), also done in garageband. Have a listen if you get a chance ... it sounds okay, I think.

Be well

"keytar "sound
If you write about the guitar in the chorus, yes that's the sound I wanted, more or less, in terms of attack and presence. You nailed it.

My Wife Loves This Version - Hates Mine!
It's true

We just sat and listened to both songs and she definitely likes your original better. Figures I'd marry an honest woman who's not afraid to tell me what she thinks!

She's also a big fan of authentic garage bands like Thee Headcoats.

Go Monggz!

headcoats
They were an inspiration to the Monggz, to be honest. I can see good taste runs in the family.

A fathers day treat
My kids can surely relate. My oldest is only 4 and she already thinks I'm a dork when I'm rocking out with a guitar. Way cool sounds.
