Lyrics
This is not a love song
That just wouldn't do,
This is not a love song,
No lost love between me and you.

There you stood, in the past,
Like a leaf blowin' in the breeze,
I've seen your love-light shinnin',
It's had me on my knees.

I wish I had been there before,
But don't ask me to use,
Or lend a hand, on my friend,
Cause I'm still in love with you.

This is not a love song,
That just couldn't do,
This is not a love song,
No lost love between me & you.

~Solo~

ReFrain.....

Just like a dream, a long time ago,
Ya came throughout this land,
We've all had one before my friend,
Do ya start to understand?

ReFrain (2X's)

There she stood as a vision,
On that mountainside,
Hair blowin', in the breeze,
make a grown man cry.

This is not a love song,
That just couldn't do,
This is not a love song...

Cool
The best of the 2 songs you posted, in my humble opinion. Good melody, nice singing. Just a bit flat in production, I think. Nice, anyway.

Good post
Nice song, melody, performance and production. It has an almost David Byrne feeling to it, but don't be shy and push up that vocal of yours a little bit, it's good. Nice guitars and arrangement also. I could actually take a little bit more vocals as mentioned, but also a bit more bass in some sections. This is very good though. /Mikki

Thanks Mikki,
For commenting, voting, but most of all for listening. Yep, definitly could use a few touch ups. Vocals up for sure, and the end, my lead could have been dropped, or redun. Glad you enjoyed-MJG

I like the melody and your careful, laid back vocals. Good guitars.

Remove the drum loop, and you have a winner:)

Cool song
The lyrics are nice in their understated irony. I agree with several others that the vocals should be a bit more up front. I also think you need more variety in your drumbeat--a nice fill here and there would add a lot to this song. It sounds too much like a machine. Nice guitar work.

The abrupt ending bothered me. I don't think a fade would be appropriate but the end sounds like a mistake as you've posted it here. Also I listened to the beginning two or three times and I heard some sort of glitch--maybe it's just a gremlin in my computer but check to make sure. I'd like to hear another version of this once you've worked on it some more.

Thanks j2morrow,
I agree with just about everything, The Glitch, I think happened on the transfer from the Boss Br864 8-track-to the Sony CD Recorder I used. Then from the Disc onto the mac. The 8-track drum machine, yeah, I should probably learn to slow down and speed up the loop. Thanks for the guitar props, but you probably heard my f-up on the last verse, & yeah, that ending is way to abrubt, I'll try and work on this, again, I apprietiate your ear, love to hear more from ya, you give quality, sound , advice-MJG
If you get a chance please check out this tune, "Light of Heaven" Live version I think you'll enjoy, http://www.macjams.com/song/27009

Shows promise..
.. I agree with pretty much what been said. In short, like tune vocals carry it, they need to be louder but they need support. Iron out wrinkles in production, guitars in places and think about the drums and bass doing something "a bit more". Liked it all the same, the feeling is there. Worth coming back to.
