A really unexpected collab with a quite unexpected result - in that it is a sum of (some extra good) parts rather than any virtuoso stuff (Mcboy's solo excepted of course).
This is some really classy stuff - very different, but quite perfect in execution.
Nice work Macca in bringing this together. Everyone done good!

Because you were the very first person to hear the first take on this. I don't know if you recall, but I sent this to you on it's first go round before Mcboy heard what I had done to Mimi's accapella rendering of this - Remember..., I wasn't quite sure if it would meet his standards (and I'm still not) -- You were very supportive to me in encouraging me to send it back to him, while comforting me w/ the thought that he would be happy w/ it.

From the first note I heard I knew this was going to be smashing. A very surprising and extremely original collab. Sorry, I can't come up with any little quibble. This is so good. And wow, a big bravo for Miriam's splendid voice and vocalising. No hiding behind any effect or reverb, just pure beauty. Ah, and those close harmonies somewhere in the middle of the song... yummie. ...THIS is what collabs can be...
It has a slightly, but only slightly, higher degree of structure than some of your stuff... Allowing it to be more "songlike than some, even while it pulls and tugs at the limits of song structure...
The recording itself is pristine, and sounds all of a piece, all in acoustic space... perfect, really... I don't hear it as a series of contributions and recordings... It comes across as one thing...
I love the acoustic guitar bits, I love the different electric bits from McBoy, and the vocals are stunning. After those items, the deep bass really got to me...
And lyrics! Look at that! Lyrics! Hmm. Might have to sponsor a 'Lyric-Off' if THAT'S the direction you're going... Not to get competitive or anything... 'Cause it's about MUSIC, you understand...
Sure do wish a fellow could vote on this.... This is a real deal high number thing...

Knowing how miticulous you are, and to get your high marks makes my efforts worth it - This is nice to hear considering the fact that, I'm still waiting on my new studio to be set up. I did all of the editing w/ headphones -- My speakers are a very cheep, temporary fix -(I paid five bucks at a swap meet)- And would you believe that I've been a true audiophile for ALL of my life. I'm afraid to know what might happen when my decent studio is ready.
Structure - I don't know what this word means in music, I only know that something about it must exist...
Lyrics - Well, I never asked for the lyrics, but I was quite happy w/ this opportunity to be able to make an attempt to match music to words, and more than to, just the words of a title. And I was gonna post what I believe are the words to this, and thought..., what if I'm wrong and I messed up Mimi's tune - I mean, there are some pretty obvious and definite musical responses to 'the' words that she so beautifully sings - And what if she supplies the words and they're not what I thought... - LOL - Silly fears, but real - However, I would encourage her to send me the lyrics if she's so inclined after reading this post - hehee

The sad part is, that the only reason I didn't send this to you is that I was too afraid that you might be too busy to work on this like, NOW. Silly, huh... - I didn't want to offer it and then snatch it back w/ the comment, 'oh sorry, that's gonna take too long'...
It's just that this had been on my plate for way too long and I wanted to just, release it. So I did.

No really, I'm sure that it is true that you have this ability to elevate anybody who might chooses to hang out with you. I'll bet that it happens in everyday life and on many levels and likely, you have no clue. You are a humble soul but you're pretty cocky too, however rightfully so.
You did everything exactly like it was meant to be done, even if I didn't always have the bestest response. Mostly, after I would listen to something that you'd just given me, I'd always feel that I needed to go back and upgrade what I had done. I had to work harder... Maybe this is the act of being elevated while being conscious enough to know that it's happening, and how much work was ahead of you because of it... LOL
But it's all very good and I'm quite happy to have been apart of it. If growth was gonna happen, and w/ such a spirt, I'm glad to know that it was w/ a humble soul.

One of the great thing about this song is the way that it's open, yet keeps changing and adding new elements... but they all fit together so well, like a collage in which each of the pieces is it's own artwork. I think that I understand the picture that you're trying to create, and yeah, that's nice compliment. Making things fit was almost all of the battle on this one, for me at least. The pieces to the puzzle were all very nice pieces to work with. I'm sure that I was too fussy at times though.

It's funny the different things that people see or hear in what we have a tendency to be too close to. I can't recall having any need to cater to thoughts that individual efforts needed to be balanced - You know, ya just try to balance things out - Everyone did the right thing.
No real back and forth of efforts. People do there parts and you just kinda do what you do with them...
Imagination... Scott, imagination is the last thing that you will ever need to worry about falling short on. If you were in my shoes, you might not have imagined what I did, but you would have imagined what you would have and people would been very impressed. You know..., kinda like we always are w/ what you do... And I did enjoy my part in all of this, and thoroughly so.

I had planned on telling a little joke related to this, but now I can't remember what it was.... so just assume it would've been funny.
This is such a smooth piece - subtle changes, good flow, nice clean production and pretty much flawless performance. I've always been a fan of Mimi's vocals and I wasn't dissappointed here. Especially that solo, harmony part just before McBoy's guitarsolo (which was pretty darn cool, too) - very Imogen Heap-ish!
Well, I have nothing to criticize here and since I don't remember that hilarious joke of mine, I'd better just wrap this comment up.
Great work from everyone who came near this - a great collaboration, indeed!

Wowee - had to listen to this a few times to get my head around it because there's so much great stuff going on - just needed to get the shape in my head. Everything about this is wonderful, Mimi's understated singing, the playing (exuberant and otherwise according to need) and of course the production which somehow manages to meld all these disparate elements into a very satisfying whole...
