Description:
I did this improvisation a while ago, though I've never gotten around to finishing nor refining it.

As it was improvised using the software instrument "Orchestral String Ensemble," I will eventually go in, expand and reassign parts to individual string sections, and then write the third part/ending to this.

I also am looking forward to doing a version of this in collaboration with Bryn once it's complete. :)

The creation of this song was inspired by the following quote:

“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.”

lovely &mdash 01/07/07 - 08:29:12 AM
Lovely and deep. I read EKK's On Death and Dying and The Wheel of Life (her autobiography) a few years ago, and found them profoundly moving, as is your music. This is a good musical reflection of the quote you cite above. There's a bit of a feeling of Beethoven in there.

Yes, Clark, I hear that hint of Beethoven... &mdash 01/07/07 - 09:53:35 AM
Mystified, this is a moving theme, and it well matches the quote by which you were inspired... Even acknowledging that it will probably sound purer and will have more air when you bust it up into string parts, I can hear the beauty or even a word like majesty, even in draft....

Love those moving low notes...

You've chosen the perfect graphic element, too...

I love strings &mdash 01/07/07 - 10:28:10 AM
Cat, I'm a sucker for melodious strings and this piece brought out the romantic in me. Absolutely lovely sketch! I will follow the progression of this with much anticipation.

God bless,

Rick

These sounds seem a good start &mdash 01/07/07 - 06:16:44 PM
Nice sounds, very nice themes. Can't wait to hear the "new improved" stained glass. I'm hearing more Vivaldi, but what would I know ; )
Peace,
Neil

What warmth... &mdash 01/13/07 - 09:31:58 PM
I love that quote, also, Misty...

This is quite a lovely piece, too. And there was a darkness that had been illuminated with some exceptionally warm, deep rich colors of life...

Beautiful, Cat - Simply beautiful.

Thank you! Macca
