Description:
Until I get some new material completed, I will be uploading some stuff that I created back in 1995-96. I used very basic software and hardware back then (even more so than now!), so the sound quality varies.
All of the sounds in this one were created on a Casio SK-1 and manipulated later in Creative Wave Studio.
Hardware:
tape recorder, Casio SK-1, old PC
Software:
Creative Wave Studio

if mouse on mars did hard-core.. &mdash 01/09/07 - 12:21:07 AM

...I was listening heavily to Mouse on Mars' Iora Tahiti album the year I made this... it was an influence, for sure. [ Reply to This ]
Nice job! &mdash 01/09/07 - 01:06:32 PM
Very nicely done. The stucture is exceptionally tight... the sounds are cool, but it has such a regular and driving rhythm that it could be dance music. Very clever. I like it. [ Reply to This ]
thanks! &mdash 01/13/07 - 10:00:10 PM
It thrills me that you can appreciate the sounds I put together... so, thanks for listening! I mean it. [ Reply to This ]

Well, it's all making sense now &mdash 01/09/07 - 03:46:13 PM
Hm, I don't know about Creative Wave Studio, but that's some cool manipulation going on. Extra cool minimalism; I'm starting to understand how your style developed. [ Reply to This ]
hey PV... &mdash 01/13/07 - 10:04:22 PM
...Creative Wave Studio is not a big deal... just a simple wave editing program with a few simple effects. Not much even compared to GarageBand. It sure was fun to play with back then, though. [ Reply to This ]
huh um.... &mdash 01/09/07 - 05:10:17 PM
Okay, now people are staring at me...
Nicely done!
Thanks alot...

Cardboard tube shenanigans &mdash 01/11/07 - 07:36:04 PM
Bits of this do sound like someone being whacked over the head with a long cardboard tube - but long cardboard tubes do make a very satisfying sound and so do you.
This track really does repay repeated listenings. Enjoyed

I like that visual!!! &mdash 01/13/07 - 09:53:48 PM
This was created before I had kids... next time I do a piece like this I can just give my kids a bunch of cardboard tubes and record it! [ Reply to This ]
The warm sound.... &mdash 01/12/07 - 07:30:23 AM
of bygone low-end technology. I really like all three of these. In fact, I was sure I had posted my admiration the other night, but when I looked again my message was nowhere to be found. Did I dream it??
Anyway, these last three songs have a very warm and honest mien, like they were crafted with affection and a measured enthusiasm. I like them a lot. [ Reply to This ]
Ooo.. &mdash 01/15/07 - 07:57:12 PM
I really like this one. The sine wave glissando against the cardboard-tube ostinato. I love the pairing. Really neat. Favourited and downloaded. [ Reply to This ]

I want to start whackin' people with cardboard tubes!
Having said that, this one was interesting. [ Reply to This ]
