Keywords:
if (5)when (13)
Description:
Have you ever met a girl and made the mistake of telling her how you felt about her and it ruined everything that you could've possibly had with her?

Lyrics:
IF
AND WHEN
I SEE YOU
AGAIN

I'LL TRY
TO HIDE
MY FEELINGS
INSIDE

SO I WON'T SAY
"YOU TAKE MY BREATH AWAY"
AND YOU WON'T HEAR
"I'M HAPPY WHEN YOU'RE NEAR",
"YOU MAKE MY PULSE RACE,
WHEN I SEE YOUR FACE",
"I FEEL MY HEART POUND,
WHENEVER YOU'RE AROUND"

IF
AND WHEN
I SEE YOU
AGAIN

I'LL TRY
TO HIDE
MY FEELINGS
INSIDE

SO I WON'T SAY
"I THOUGHT OF YOU ALL DAY"
AND YOU WON'T KNOW
YOU'RE STARRING IN MY SHOW

YOU MAKE MY KNEES WEAK
WHEN I HEAR YOU SPEAK
I FEEL MY HEART POUND
WHENEVER YOU'RE AROUND

IF
AND WHEN
I SEE YOU
AGAIN

I'LL TRY
TO HIDE
MY FEELINGS
INSIDE

Wacky .. &mdash 01/13/07 - 02:08:06 PM
.. I like this. It reminds me of Ace Frehley in some way (the vocal style). I loved the wacky synths, gave it a bit of a Compulsion tinge. Very enjoyeable. Thanks for sharing.

Got My Space Boots On &mdash 01/13/07 - 03:52:28 PM
Didn't Ace Frehley choke on his own vomit or something? He was my favorite from the original 4. Might've been that smoking Les Paul of his.

The wacky synths are about the only type of synths I'm able to create, even in a country fried song like this one.

Thanks for listening and for commenting.

Naaaw, sorry, &mdash 01/13/07 - 04:15:26 PM
no points for this one: That was Bon Scott.

Ace Frehley is in fact alive and reasonably well and living in ... sin? (no, sorry that was Gene Simmons)

Choking On Someone Else's Vomit &mdash 01/13/07 - 04:20:59 PM
If anyone would know, it would be my fowl mouthed friend DucK! I'm glad to see your face (exactly as I drew it) and glad to see that you are alive and have not choked on anyone's vomit, including your own.

Are you gonna make this a happy new year and post some songs?

Your long lost pal, Five X

What Kind of Icing is that on the Cake? &mdash 01/13/07 - 04:36:54 PM
Thanks ego. I'll take that as a compliment. Wish I had those Cake vocals at my disposal. Oh well, I'll stick with Pee Wee Herman's voice for now and try to bury it under horrible synth noises.

Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it. Your music just recently hit my radar and I am really digging your style. My friend DucK and you have some similar influences and both of you are unique and original acts that are full of surprises. cjdaley is another cat that has great and daring stuff going on and I see you've commented on his work.

Macjams has been pretty exciting the last couple of days. Keep sharing.

Who says you need guitars to rock?

Rock on, bro'!

A sad story told with half a grin. Very well done.

No Smoking Guitars Today &mdash 01/14/07 - 09:12:31 AM
I originally intended to play my bass on this song, but was having a tough time getting things set up, so I opted for my Oxygen 8.

Think Ace Frehley could ever play the 25 key Midi controller as wicked as I do?

five extra stars &mdash 01/14/07 - 05:18:20 AM
I feel It's more straightforward than your usual compos, with less layers and effects, but still a great fat synth sound. More "penciled", in a way. I don't usually like fade-outs, but this works for some reasons. The song is safely downloaded on a french hard-drive.

And That's a magnificent painting, by the way.

Err...who's ace frehley ?

Ace Frehley &mdash 01/14/07 - 06:00:40 AM
is the original lead guitarist of a wee li'l rock band called KISS

Always glad to be of assistance.

Song Writing Decisions &mdash 01/14/07 - 09:16:56 AM
Hey Mr Daley,

Thanks for the comments. True, I have a tendancy to use 500 layers of electronic noises and bleeps just so it's obvious that I'm not your average mechanical boy. This time I kept it simple and used a dirty buzzing bassline, some really perfect drum loops (I've maybe used drum loops once in my life?), 2 synthesizer tracks (one more garbled and dissonant) and 3 vocal tracks that I actually sung. I did copy one vocal track to create a really deep male voice that barely is heard, but thickens my puny voice somehow. Oh yeah, I used some sounds from the Radio Sound Effect (that comes packed with GB3) for the bridge part. I cleverly panned it to the left, then instinctively to the right and back to the left again. They called me a pioneer back at Mixing School.

I only had a few hours of "free time" yesterday, so I was able to dispose of this riff in my head. I wrote the lyrics too long ago and somehow they were married in my shiney plastic iMac. If I would've had the lyrics in front of me, I might have sang them all. Oh well, normally that's saved for a live performance, not a Studio Recording. No wonder I decided to fade the song out.

Thanks again.

Yeah &mdash 01/14/07 - 12:04:48 PM
I love the grumbly bass and overall feel. Nice singing, with a bit of quirky Devo or B-52s feel to the vocals. This is very cool.

Since I can't sing like Robin Zander, I'm left with few choices - I'll give props to DEVO as a source for inspiration and vocal freedom. Who doesn't love those good old fashioned Ohio boys?

Thanks percept for dropping me a line. I appreciate every comment I get.

As &mdash 01/14/07 - 12:57:49 PM
Popular as they are, I still think Devo are underrated. I saw them live in '89 or so, and it was really one of the better concerts I've seen. Dude, your vocals are good... I mean, you could work on the vocal pitching more (it works as it is though), but timing-wise you're spot on, and there's oomph and real individual character to your voice. It totally makes the song work.

We Are All DEVO &mdash 06/05/07 - 07:09:27 AM
Thanks for all the comments. I hear my voice and it still kinda freaks me out.

A friend of mine Jade Dellinger published a really good book about DEVO http://www.devobook.com. He has an amazing collection of DEVO paraphenelia, like, the paper jump suits they used in the early days - complete with Letraset lettering! He was an essential part in getting Mark Mothersbaugh to exhibit in our exhibition space. His photo work is as inventive and odd as his band was.

Vic,

what a handsome image you use and so appropriate for this particular topic of discussion. I clicked on your page and rifled through several of your wonderful songs, but as a visual artist, I was drawn your wonderful imagery. Knowing nothing about you, I'd have to say you are a graphic artist and that you make a fine living doing it. I plan on investing some time listening to your music and commenting.

Thanks for your comment.

Grumble &mdash 05/15/07 - 07:39:22 AM
Thanks Lava. The bassline was so deep and dirty in my headphones. I hope it was the same in yours. I really wanted to get back to writing songs with my bass first, instead of with the synths first. I usually have a more pure idea when I write this way. I can always go back and fit a horrible synth sound but it's hard for me to go back and fit a bassline. Know what I mean?

Thanks Tom -

It's funny to me how soon I forget my own songs. This one, I think, "sucks less" than most of my songs. I appreciate your comments. You and a FEW others are constantly reprocessing/reappreciating/redefining/reconnecting what so many of us hold so dear. You know who and what I'm talking about. It's an amazing aesthetic we all share.

Thanks Mac Jams!

Straight in your face with a big beat and monster bass. I dig the lyrics too - been there I think. Then I played hard to get and totally blew that game too. Cool synths and vocals - cookin on all burners.

I couldn't do this as well as you do. Female backup is a good suggestion. But, you must know that there is nothing wrong with your voice. Simple, honest theme. Completely respectable musicianship. Thank you.

Thanks for listening Char. This is probably one of my personal favorites. I remember writing the lyrics and thinking about how many people probably relate to this situation.

Thanks again for digging deep into my stuff.
