Description:
This is one I swear I thought I have posted before. Maybe I did and I took it down for some reason. But this is a complete remake of the original written and recorded more than two years ago which was lost when my Firewire drive died.

It's almost a companion piece to a couple of tunes I've previously posted - Frosty Morn and Widow's Walk. Same style, a lot of the same instrumentation, including the use of the English horn.

It's simply a nice, peaceful meditation inspired by so many sunsets I've watched from at or near the spot in the photo above.

I hope you enjoy.

Lyrics:
Beautiful light
Shine for a thousand years
Help light my way
Like the stars far above

Beautiful light
Shine forever
In the eyes of the one I love

Slip away quietly
In to the dark of night
Hold my hand
As we drift far away

Cool mists move silently
Touched by teh summer breeze
Hiding the Earth
As they sing us to sleep

Beautiful light
Shine for a thousand years
Help light my way
Like the stars far above

Beautiful light
Shine forever
In the eyes of the one I love

Beautiful inspiration &mdash 01/16/07 - 11:54:09 AM
The area where the photo above was taken is one of my favorite spots in the entire world. It's just a few minutes from where I live along a large lake and all up and down the edge of the lake there are so many nice, remote spots where you can go and enjoy nature around you. It's a very inspiring place for me and has worked its way into several of my tunes.

I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment, Vic. Thanks very much.

You sure are ..... &mdash 01/15/07 - 12:25:31 AM
....... getting productive Joseph! Another lovely song - your voice sounds good here - the harmonies section has lots of impact, and rounds things off really well. Looks like you're in for a good year.
Cheers,
Neil

On a roll &mdash 01/16/07 - 12:01:53 PM
I've got a number of tunes like this one that I lost when my Firewire drive died last year. (Backups? Never heard of 'em.) I've been working on redoing some of them kind of scattered in between working on new stuff.

As a result, I'm better able to fix stuff I didn't like in the original version - like the harmonies at the end of this one. I was able to make them a lot clearer and give them some more impact.

I'm hoding out hope for the new year. So far so good. Thanks for listening, Neil.

The picture tells the story well. A quiet time of reflection. A amazingly gentle song! Harmonies work quite well. Great job!

I mean your Mac well, JG, but thanks to your broken Firewire drive I am having a re-introduction to your lost songs! You sing with such vocal purity on this song and the climactic harmony towards the end is simply heavenly.

A little too short, maybe add another verse or two? Also, not sure if this is soft rock, but whatever genre it should belong in, it sounds great to my ears.

MANLY LOVE SONGS &mdash 01/19/07 - 09:51:43 AM
it's always nice to hear a man sing something beautiful and sensitive. this melody is so sweet - and you've surrounded it with appropriately calm sounds. horn pad (?) was an interesting touch - liked it. tho short, you manage to build this with nice swells of poignant harmony. nice job, joseph! anne
