Real recorder? &mdash 01/15/07 - 10:58:06 AM
Lovely piece and a nice solo. Nice to know that the instrument so abused by second graders can sound so good in the hands of a pro!

Yep, real recorder &mdash 01/15/07 - 11:08:10 AM
When John asked me to play on this, at first I thought of using a lower instrument, because the soprano recorder can sound a bit shrill, especially in the high notes, and this piece actually goes quite high. But when I recorded it, it sounded wonderful to me, so I stayed with the, much maligned, soprano recorder.

This is... &mdash 01/15/07 - 01:12:59 PM
beautiful. Very serene and pleasant. As someone who has played tin flute and alto recorder on a few songs... you do a great job with that soprano recorder. Good choice.

I really like this. Between you and Smokeyvw and these great relaxing pieces that you're sharing, I've become pleasantly relaxed this afternoon. I also feel like I've hit the jackpot, too; this is just beautiful.

Yep - this is really a wonderful piece of music. I thorougly enjoyed it. Thanks Vic! Macca

How lovely! &mdash 01/19/07 - 11:46:01 AM
This lush, full and rich "light jazz" orchestration reminds me very much of those wonderful Mancini scores from the '60s. This is excellently arranged, and creates a mellow mood, reminiscent of "Alfie".

Your recorder playing is excellent, especially in view of the soprano's pitfalls as you stated. You surmounted these very successfully; your tone is sweet and expressive. The higher range of the soprano suits this piece perfectly.

I know that this project had a specific goal and purpose, but I find myself wishing that the recorder had been more prominently featured in the piece. It's so obviously "live" in this otherwise synthesized mix that it begs to be a solo.

Also, the very end of this piece seemed a bit abrupt and sudden.

Otherwise, it's very nice music -- downloaded! ;-)

Lovely tune &mdash 01/19/07 - 07:24:25 PM
and a wonderful job playing the recorder, Vic. This is music to kick back with at the end of a hectic day. Beautiful job.
