Description:
I'm not a huge sports fan, but I am a big fan of the N'awlins (New Orleans for those who don't know better) Saints pro football team (American football, that is).
After a year of devistation and sorrow, the city and the region has something to cheer about as this team is one win away from The Super Bowl for the first time ever in the team's history. It has been a fun season to be a Saints fan for a change.
All of this, along with a cold, wet, boring holiday Monday led me to sit down and work up this right quick.
It's rough. I play all the trumpet parts, the Frenh horn parts and the bass. Yeah, I know, the French horn isn't really the first thing you think of when you think N'awlins, but I don't own a trombone (yet.)
Anyone who thinks they might want to add to this or play with it in any way is welcome. Drop me a line and I'll send you the GB3 file.
Hope you enjoy and GEAUX SAINTS!

Will you ever stop &mdash 01/15/07 - 08:01:54 PM
You're posting alot of music, dude - it's tough to keep up.
So that's what a real trumpet sounds like. Beautiful, JG - Some warm tones you're getting outta that piece of brass. You just made me remember how digital some of these gb instruments can be at times.
That was really nice. So, can you play pretty much anything with the trumpet. And what instrument can't you play??? Geez!!!
Thanks! Macca [ Reply to This ]
Kick it into overdrive! &mdash 01/16/07 - 11:36:32 AM
I've been in a serious groove lately and I have no life to interfere with it, so I'm getting a lot done. :)
I really like using real trumpets, horns, etc. Even though the GB instruments do a pretty good job, there's just no substitute. I've played the trumpet since high school and the French horn since I was in 5th grade, so I have a leg up on those. One thing I enjoy is learning to play a new instrument (and then sticking randomly into songs.)
Just wait until I get a trombone. :D
Thanks for listening, my friend. Your support is always appreciated.

This is a SURPRISE &mdash 01/15/07 - 08:23:26 PM
Wow, at first I didn't think this was you, like I pushed the wrong link or something... I wish I could blow the trumpet. I just got an Oboe, but still have to unpack it and figure the thing out. I have had a busy and not so good day, this changed it all in a second. Thank you!!! /Mikki [ Reply to This ]
An oboe...!!! &mdash 01/16/07 - 11:39:55 AM
Oh, I can't wait to hear what you do with that once you get it under your fingers. Not the easiest of instruments to play, but it will be a welcome addition to the MacJams Symphony Orchestra once we get it going.
Glad this one cheered you up, Mikki. I hope your day went much better. Thanks for dropping by and taking a listen.

NEVERMIND Football - How About That BASS!
Really Jazzed by Your Energy. And BRAVO, Sir.
Adore the French Horn - ALWAYS. You don't let on that it is Nearly Impossible to play that instrument!
Thanks, Brother

A little Bourbon Street in my blood.... &mdash 01/16/07 - 11:45:26 AM
...not to mention probably still a bit of actual bourbon left in there from our celebration Saturday night (into the wee hours of Sunday morning.)
I like to take the bass for a walk every once and a while. I played in the university jazz band back in college and I miss playing that style. It keeps you on you toes.
And it's my goal for the year to work my French horn into as much stuff as I can. I'm actually having fun playing it again after years of just letting it sit in the closet.
Appreciate you taking the time to drop in and listen, my friend.

Now Joseph, &mdash 01/17/07 - 05:25:10 PM
I have to advise that this is one of my all time most hated and despised songs (not your version, the song itself). We have a local jazz festival at which everyone who has ever picked up a brass instrument marches down the street playing this. It winds me up and I want to hit something (usually a brass instrument player in the front row).
Having got that off my chest, your playing was great ;) Loved the bass.

To be honest.... &mdash 01/17/07 - 08:05:49 PM
....yeah, I know how you feel. I think it's the Stairway to Heaven or Smoke on the Water of Jazz, but this has more to do with the excitement over the football team and for the city than anything else. (And since I'm being completely honest, it's also very easy to play, so, there you go. :) )
Thanks for listening anyway, Neil. And thanks for noth throwing anything at me. At least so far........
