Description:
GB.
Straight, no Chaser
Sketch. Stream of Consiousness. First Go. Last Go.
Love helps you see things if you stay out of the way, it seems.
Winter.
Truth.
Cooper
Lyrics:
DON’T HAVE TO SAY
Just Walking
Some more miles to go
The Night surrounds me
Here below
Thoughts of You
Around this Drifting Snow
Drifting, with no
Special Place to go
Time’s so quiet as
It Steals by
Through the trees I see
The Sapphires of the Sky
Their Fiery Blue Light
Blazing Fires of the Night
They come with me along
Though they know
I’ll soon be gone
The Truth’s what you Do
They plainly show
Silence is Truth’s
Kingdom, you know
Honesty, Truth’s only son
Befriends but a few
But I’m Blessed to be one
No Fame
No Fortune
No Cadillac car
Just a poor man
Befriended by Stars
The warm lamplight
From your window, I see
I’ll be there
Tonight, just You and me
Your kind smile
Brought me All this Way
The Greetings we Feel
We Don’t Have To Say

STRAIGHT UP &mdash 01/16/07 - 12:44:20 PM
I Owe You
Underneath, it's a straight up Blues - but counts Blessings, thus, a Talking Blues.
Long Winter Night's walk, World of Pain, out to the Headland Rocks. Channeled SISTERS on the walk (many reasons for that attraction to resiliant energies). Got back, "Rolled Tape" and There it Was.
THANKS (for however That works).
Fondest Regards,
Cooper

do I understand correctly- walk in, turn on, record and it's done? Damn, that's good! Nice tune Coop. [ Reply to This ]
Say, Chicago! &mdash 01/16/07 - 12:26:24 PM
Well, Yeah - This Time. Flat Levels, one Pan off center, and let it alone with itself - for better or worse.
BUT, I'd been caught in a snag of three songs I could not make happen. Had given up The Ghost. Then a Winter's night walk; cold hands, "role tape" and go - took me Totally by surprise!
Don't know, Man; "even the Losers get Lucky, sometimes", eh? - as in clear of the clutter.
Very Best to You,

take and feel to this somewhat dylanesque interlude of guitar and voice. Works for this on-the-fly musician...

No. No. &mdash 01/16/07 - 02:18:20 PM
The "Boys" are saying Tom Rush and Eric Anderson.
Me, I'm saying, "Better EQ on the Vox Capture, no?" (Sheer happenstance, I did not touch one dial).
As always, any Crit from Your corner is most welcomed. Thanks.

influences &mdash 01/16/07 - 01:15:05 PM
I think I notice a bit of influences from a English band... called something with stones;)
I like the easy laid-back style you have here. As you write it is a sketch, I see this one has potential.
Would love to hear this one with a bass-guitar and programmed or real drums to fit the song better than a loop will.. Hmmm, maybe some harp tootin'...
Yeah, cool stuff:) [ Reply to This ]
GOOD CALL &mdash 01/16/07 - 02:11:03 PM
This is, indeed, a slightly veiled BLUES.
There is, doubtless, a version with a proper set up and structure, but for me it is complete as the "click-track" gesture presented here. It is a Blues that needed to tell its Tale. Fait Accompli, in that sense.
I Always Appreciate the Astute Energy of Your Comments.

Raw groove - &mdash 01/17/07 - 05:32:05 PM
man you are getting better and better at this stuff! The production seems like you've made a few purchases/decisions in the micing department lately - or maybe the gods smiled that night. I for one regret at least one of those unfinished songs of yours is not going to happen - have you considered singing that one yourself?
A really good performance here Coop - really good!
Peace,

Well Done Cooper! &mdash 01/19/07 - 10:08:24 AM
Loving the guitar, it's got a great feel to it! Loved the lyrics as well, very well put together. And the almost "spoken word" vocals were right one. Cheers! [ Reply to This ]

Been looking for the Elemental amongst the Ornamental, lately. "Less is More" with me, it seems.
Though a Mod-ed E46 is Just Right!

Capt. Barnstormer (your new piece is a Barn Stormer!),
What a MIX!
The Rhy Gtr IS the Solo. I didn't want to hurt that in any way.
As you aptly observe, I Never miss an opportunity to go to "11", eh?
Thanks so much.

Honestly &mdash 01/22/07 - 10:56:30 AM
The style of your vocal, so loose and almost drugged, is at odds with the hyper-rhythmic drum track loop you use. Consider using a drum sound that has a lot more dirt in it, more off beats and even funk, or at least simplified blues; but the drummer should be drinking the same stuff you are, I think, to sound like you're fronting a band you hand picked. I really like what I think you're going for, I just want the band to follow you with a little stagger to their swagger. I dig your lyrics. [ Reply to This ]
THANK YOU, Brother &mdash 01/22/07 - 11:46:40 AM
WHAT a Fine Crit!
ENTIRELY Correct. On It, on Top of It. (It's a Relief when they Stop, isn't it?) Lassitude on display in the use of that "Standard" Kit Track of mine.
While I wait for Tracktion 3 and the ability to use BFD for Kit, I err, greatly, (as here, now that you point it out so clearly for me) in misassigning such a strategic and major part of the piece. (I have a "click-track" rationalization in the recall of how I "threw" this together, but it just embarrasses me to think of it, now).
Thank You for "kicking me up the Stair"! It should have a different Track there. I will try to find it (not for Re-Post), but because you're right - it Should be better!

Yeah.
A Winter's night walk, the seemingly eternal stars, and thoughts of what I hold dear: Truth and an Abiding, faithful Love.
Came in. Turned on GB. And so.
I'm afraid (certain) that Tobin is Right - I Blew the Kit track. The guitar "just happened", out of nowhere. Simple, like the Stars that were out; just There.
Thank you for your Crit., I appreciate your thoughts, Anytime.

As you know, Doug, that's about my Whole Vocal range!
I like the Gtr, too, because it just happened. It may, because it is so spare, be the best Gtr piece I've ever played (and if I didn't have You to play for, I might have missed it).
Thanks so much for your Comments.
