Description:
This is an instrumental of a song I was commissioned to write. Fran "Ziti" Dagostino was kind enough to add a little guitar. The original, simple (verse) melody by TAMAR, was expanded upon (recorded with an internal microphone, a cappella to a cassette tape). The rough vocal version was posted several months ago by TAMAR. I wanted to share the instrumental version in its innocence.

The guitar serves as a good and warm element with its acoustic qualities. An electric wouldn't have done the same in here. Good choice ziti:)
The dynamic performances is pleasing, and the whole piece comes as a total package of goodness.

Very nice arrangement, intriguingly fresh composition, and man a lot of work went into this! And Ziti does his usual beautiful magic here to add icing to the cake. I can imagine this with sultry Russian FemmeVox all over it... yummy! I hope TAMAR likes it and that it does well.

The contrasts, phrasing and production all added to make this a wondrous song without words.
I especially love the almost-plucked guitar, the strings, the cello?, oh well....everything really.
Ziti has done a great job, as is usual for him.

And, yes, that is a psuedo-cello that drives the backbone in lieu of a standard bass line.

Al asked me to play on this song a long time ago....he literally wrote all this music working from a cassette tape of this woman singing into a small hand held recorder of some sort....you really NEED to hear the original to appreciate what he has done here...the creativity of his vision floored me. when he asked me to play on it, i was really scared cuz i had no clue what to do...asked al what key it was in...of course al doesnt think like that...chord names?bahh....so i fugured the damn thing out and had parts for all of it...sent the parts to al...and when this returned i damn near cried...this GOES ON inside his head...music this soulful and complex and humorous in it's way. it also is also one of the first times i ever attempted to record acoustic guitar.
al is a huge inspiration to me. he has treated me so wonderfully. we converse via iChat nearly everyday, always sharing a laugh and a filty joke. i think he is one of the most amazing humans i have had the pleasure to meet...virtually or otherwise.
thanks al, this is really great music, and i am so proud to be a part of it.

There is a nice variety of tonal color in this piece, a very nice blend of instruments.
It's got all the distinctive "alimarisms" I have come to know and love: the string tremolos, piano lines and flute floating high above it all. You definitely have a signature style.
You've developed your music considerably in the three years you've been on MacJams. (gosh, has it been THAT long???)
I know that the original melody was already provided here (and it's a good one), but you have done a very good job of orchestrating it. The addition of ziti's guitar adds further sparkle to this excellent piece.
It's great to hear something NEW from you here. I guess I'd better get busy! ;-)

Yes, it will be three years on January 20th that GarageBand was released.
Looking back, I find a sense of advancement - an experience quite like
going back to school. Everyone I've come in contact with,
wheteher virtually, or in your case, 'in person', have made their mark.
Thank you for the inspiration and 'nudge' to keep on going, when the going
was questionable!
