Description:
This song represents my first departure from wholly loop-based mixes to a more natural, played (or performed) composition.

This is a piece of music that is pure electronica and could actually be avoided without loss of sleep.

There's an incessant, ticking clock, but this clock is running 50% faster than norm. There's also an Industrial feel to the piece, together with some sweetness and light (seemingly).

It could be classed as Film Score.

It has, during the piece, no real relief, whilst one side of the piece is more or less constant, the other is changing.

Let me know what you think. I'd be VERY interested in what you think!!

The piece was completed solely with the use of soft synths (i.e. VST plugins), together with a Casio LK-70s that was use as the MIDI keyboard because it was light enough to have on my knees during production).

(No loops were harmed during the making/mixing of this piece).

Hardware:
Dual boot Mac Mini (Intel core).

Software:
Various.

Paul, I love your humble descriptions of your songs. This one, in particular, made me laugh out loud. "could be avoided without loss of sleep." So humble, you are!

Well, while this has no real melody or typical song structure, it fits well into your description of Film score/industrial/ambient. I would call it Indusrial Ambient, but that's just me. I enjoyed this quite a bit and found myself lost in a grey, mechanical, cold daydream. Like the wheels and cogs of a big clock. The production is very good - through headphones, the textures are finely interwoven together. I like this for 'thinking' music.

And special kudos for your bravery -- I think you try more genres than anyone here!

Thank you for listening to the mix after reading my comments about saving people time. I do try to help others who come across my stuff accidentally (as it were) and don't know what to expect.

It is a tangent away from some of my other works but a necessary departure from the older style was necessary and now that I have the time to actually think a little bit more about my musical offerings, instead of literally throwing stuff into the mix to see what sounded good, I will try and use the time wisely.

I forgot to mention in the description that this piece was made using soft synths. It's an area of music production that I'm moving into because of the freedon of expression it offers, and I love to fiddle though hopefully not whilst Rome burns.

Paul.
