Lyrics
Paradise
© 1998 Doug Boughter
A picture perfect place…a south pacific paradise.
An island drenched in the sun, I lay there quiet, alone.
A little boy runs by, kicking the hot sand as he runs .
I say, “Son, what’s your name, what’s your hurry on this day?”
He sits next to me for a while, and looks down at his feet as he talks to me. He says, “This paradise for you, is a prison built for me.”
About an hour goes by, he doesn’t say a word to me, just draws a diamond in the sand with his hand.
He says, “I wake up at dawn, the scenery is much the same. Sun and sand, oceans blue…few new people, very few. No baseball no city lights, no buildings that can reach the sky. Not much for a kid like me, not much at all, look and see--- not much at all, look and see.”

Who's the singer? Nice singing, nice sparse but flowing arrangement, good story. The ending seemed slightly abrupt, possibly your intent? I'd have let the panpipey thing blow a long fading final note myself. Smooth music, and it does have a little "island" feel to it.
