Description
It's spoken word, but it ain't poetry!
This is a new style of writing for me - sketching out the rogh ideas first then totally imporovising the monologue! Requires quite a bit of acting, I can tell you. And that's difficult when you have to stop the recording every 60 seconds to shout at your housemates to keep the noise down. (no kidding, I timed it - it WAS every 60 seconds!)
It's taken me about four hours to record this - It's only a few minutes long!
It's the story of Anne Bolyen's execution, seen through her eyes.
And before anyone picks up on it, that click at the end of the speech isn't me cutting it off early, it's supposed to be the sword...

Lyrics
Improvised, apart from Anne's execution speech:
Good Christian people, I am come hither to die, for according to the law, and by the law I am judged to die, and therefore I will speak nothing against it. I am come hither to accuse no man, nor to speak anything of that, whereof I am accused and condemned to die, but I pray God save the king and send him long to reign over you, for a gentler nor a more merciful prince was there never: and to me he was ever a good, a gentle and sovereign lord. And if any person will meddle of my cause, I require them to judge the best. And thus I take my leave of the world and of you all, and I heartily desire you all to pray for me. O Lord have mercy on me, to God I commend my soul.'
After being blindfolded and kneeling at the block, she repeated several times:
'To Jesus Christ I commend my soul; Lord Jesu receive my soul.'

At first, when I thought this was recited from a piece of paper, I liked it.
Now that I know this was mostly improv - I really like it.
Very nice acting, indeed.
It's a shame, though, about the sound quality - especially at the beginning. It gets a bit distorted and muffled in a few spots; like you're talking too close to the microphone. But as the piece goes on, it gets better.
And finally, a very nice piece of music at the end. A good way to end a story like this - very cinematic.
Lovely work.
