Description:
This song has more structure now. I was recording a sort of ...loose version of it to see how it sounds when i'm not singing. it's hard to sing and listen at the same time. anyway... i imagine this having a real band and being recorded properly. It's missing some of the lyrics etc. I'm hoping to divide it up into real verse-chorus-verse-bridge parts etc this week. Then the hook will be more defined. Eh. The gobbledegook of writing. Lol. :)

Lyrics:
dear abbey help me out
i'm in trouble i'm in doubt
see, i don't believe i'm getting what he's saying to me
i can hear him speak but don't think he's talking to me
dear abby
i've got time on my side
i need fearlessness to roll off my tongue
why can't one laugh at all that one's done
why can't one smile at all the wasted time
today today today
i'm going to say
what should have been said
the way that it always
should have been said
the way that it should have been said.

beautiful... &mdash 01/21/07 - 06:42:00 PM
...simply beautiful. You really made us wait this time, but it was well worth the wait. This sounds fine as it is, but I'm sure it'll be great if you do work on it some more. Welcome back, it's a triumphant return.

delightful return &mdash 01/22/07 - 09:05:02 AM
Your voice here reminds me of the incredibly talented and almost operatic Annie Lennox... welcome back! This is really richly pretty, I love the piano backing, and the lyrics do need minor work but are very good already. It would be good to have a distinct chorus, possibly with your voice multiplied to sing harmony. Sweet stuff here, chewy goodness!

I dig &mdash 01/22/07 - 10:12:14 PM
where this is going....gentle and flowing with just a bit of tension....I love the chords on the piano and you voice has a nice earthy quality....I can hear a cello and tubular bells at work....just a thought....also has a great sense of distance in the recording....like your sound is rolling off of blue soaked hills in the fading sun.....very cool

Really nice singing and piano. I like the way you've framed the lyrics with dear abbey. The floating vox in the back are cool, as are many of the other little touches in the music. Really good work.

Hook &mdash 01/31/07 - 04:42:05 PM
DOnt need no hook. Simple like this is what makes it complex. A bass line line some cool drums and your in. great job. Oh yeah of course the singing is incredible.

Excellent &mdash 02/02/07 - 10:20:59 AM
Fabulous. Altho your vocals seem unnecessarily far away and a tad blanketed, the dreaminess of the piece makes it acceptable. The little details of whispered words swirling in the background work so well with the simple arrangement. Really nice vocal and piano performance, use of changing octaves. But more than anything, great writing. A fantastic song about regret, sung as if you are still caught in regret even tho you don't want to be. Fabulous.
