Description:
My first song in I dont know how long!
This is me expressing creative urges and touching that through music and more. Its meant to have a submerged kind of feel to it while maintaining a relaxed but sexually charged longing... more of an incantation to the living muse and a pleading to be taken over and dominated by it. A love song to the ethereally inspired, and to finding your whole self through another soul.
Yes thats me on the vox.. and yes I know its not exactly errmmmm acceptable.. in more ways than one for some Im sure but.. there it is and here I am :P
I dont consider this done so please if you have ideas lay it on me and when I go rework this song after taking a suitably long break from listening to it Ill most likely implement a lot of the suggestions.
Thanks so much for listening!
Lyrics:
All that I know
All that I can dream
Is blooming like a flower
Grow deeper inside of me
(chantings)
Love is deeper than the sea
Ohhh... a part of everything
Giving you all of me
Youve got me kneeling
Baby you make me sing
(Faded outro)
Take Me
Teach me
Taunt Me
Taste Me
Want Me
Touch Me
Love Me (love me....)
Hardware:
Didge, shakers and other assorted thingies:)

Amazing and... &mdash 01/21/07 - 07:55:22 PM
...and very trippy! Before I read the lyrics I was feeling that this track had a very watery feel, it's kinda swirling and there's an indistinctness and distortion of the sound that reminds me of how sounds... er...sound underwater. I just love the atmosphere of this track.
Incidentally, I don't have a problem with your vocals on this at all - they're used very effectively

Thankies!
That made me feel really good... was all afraid my first comment was going to be bad bad bad (giggles).
I ha dto work at that arhythmic kind of feeling in this one.. every time I was playing the didge along with the other tracks I kept locking into rhythms, I stoped that by doing several tracks for different guitar efx with the didge. Also when mixing down I kept wanting everything to be very even.. was fun to struggle with it because of my only other big remixiing expereinces were with my CD and the didge tracks were all recorded first and were all improv. Completely opposite this.
Ohhh my.. I do prattle on. lol..
You and I and Rebs .. we should do some things together over the next year :) Beautiful muse-ick as they are wont to say. <grins>
Thank ya very much kind sir :)

WELL &mdash 01/21/07 - 11:12:41 PM
since you want constructive critisism, first let me say this is top notch. Second let me say if it were me I would have had some part of the song build up and explode . I would throw a very heavy beat into this then bring the vocal uptop to contrast the heavyness. Then I would slowly bring it back down to the levels you had and ride with it. Mabye in a few places jolt the listener with a few bangs and bumps. Well I think I have said to much so remember its only my opinnion, so do what cha like bec its alll good and oh yes Its a very good song! [ Reply to This ]
funny you should say that :) &mdash 01/22/07 - 09:21:50 AM
there were two "explosions" in it and i tamed them down because they seemed to really ride up.. Im wondering now though if I shouldnt have messed with them , you know how it is when when you listen to the same song 400 times in a few weeks you start hearing it completely different than anyone else ever will, lmao.
I will definitely make note of your suggestions Ego :) thanks muchly!

Meditative magic &mdash 01/22/07 - 02:01:07 PM
I'm so glad you decided to post this ... it's amazing what a rich, full and complex sound you manage to get with your assorted thingies.
The vocals blend with it very nicely and float lightly across the deepness of the didge. I like the reverby effect on the didge too, it makes the sound swell until it's all-encompassing. Something to close your eyes and lose yourself in.
It's great to see you back at MJ ... you've been missed.

Lovely words ! &mdash 01/24/07 - 07:43:41 AM
Thank you so much Rebsie. Im knid of flummoxed with everyone being ok with the vox. lol... I was expecting to be strung up over it. :)
Reverby didge has a submersive quality that I desperately wanted for this piece. I listen to it though and I know it needs work. Im thinking APB might get a crack at polishing it off like he was asking for hehehe.
You and I.. more collab.. soon!

Wow, very psychedelic. I dig all the layers of sound, and the awesome droning didge. Good job with your sublimation here! [ Reply to This ]

Oooh .. &mdash 01/22/07 - 03:03:38 PM
.. this is really good Jason- I don't know why you thought I wouldn't like it. Fantastic trippy feel ..
but with a highly modern sound - that'll be the assorted thingies ;o) Quibbles: I'd really like the vox up a bit throughout though.. what I can make out (more from the 3/4 mark onwards) is sounding perfectly fine - so let's hear 'em!. I love that very deep bassy beat and those piano loops at the start, the little eastern string melody near the end and of course the didge playing throughout..as it is, the quite distant effected vox are hard to make out and create a swirly ambience that is reminiscent of Queen's "One Vision" intro a little to me.. although there is no 'slowed' vocals, I think ...I'd like it to have a bit more "direction" like Ego mentions - something coming to an 'explosive' point and some creation of distinct sections - although this might be not the norm for free flowing ambient music, I dunno: after one peak, the drums too (in particular the snare) could come up to bring in the steady pace .. the drums/percussion could fade up even... maybe some reversed sounds?? (try "Audacity"?) might work in this. I'd love to add some guitar sound/FX ideas but I might well be trying to pull this too much in a direction you don't want to take it. Glad you got time to make and share this with us and back on MJs with a bang.. eek! look at that .. and you thought you prattled on! hahaha ;o) [ Reply to This ]
Ohhhh! &mdash 01/24/07 - 07:58:30 AM
Would you like to do something with this Alan? Id love it if you did the guitar thingie or did whatever you wanted to it. Im at the point now where I cant do anything with it anymore because I am just not hearing it like other people at all.
lol.. most of the suggestions in here are things that I had already but turned down or away from thinking it was not "proper", lmao!
Anyways expect a note from me in the enxt day or so sketching details and whatnot and just generally saying hi and spreading the love:)
THanks for commenting!!

Really creative ....... &mdash 01/22/07 - 03:21:23 PM
.... use of the didge here Jason - very transporting piece. When is a didge song not a didge song kind of thing ;) I'd have liked to hear the vox up in the mix a little - although that may have undermined the general vibe. I certainly wouldn't keep them soft in the mix because of any problems wit the way they sound.
Cheers,

Thanky Neil! &mdash 01/24/07 - 08:12:15 AM
I have some projects in the "tube" so to speak, that are meant to be rather stark departures from my previous didge excursions. I am also concurrently doing more traditional (western) fare... hoping to release two CD at the same time as part of an over all theme of dualities and all the grey areas that exist between those dualities.
...Wow that sounds way more.. I dunno.. cerebral than I meant:) Hhehehe.. yin/yang, male/female type stuff and the balance dance.
Been working on that piece for you to :) !!! WOOT as we are want to say !

Beautifully tense &mdash 01/22/07 - 04:39:19 PM
Where've you been?! So nice to have you back! This is another sublime contribution from you -- beautiful and delicate layers. You're really great at all the subliminal stuff, too. I hear the tension. And the mix sounds good to me. It's hard to tell where one voice ends and another begins. That, to me, makes for good 'ambient' music. Lot's of Peter Gabriel-like mysticism. I like this very, very much. You have fantastic mood music. [ Reply to This ]
S'cuse me while I pick that jaw up:) &mdash 01/24/07 - 08:46:20 AM
