I love simplicity &mdash 01/23/07 - 10:46:42 PM
in a tune. This is really, really nice, Alimar. Very nice sound, too. I love it.
JamPack 4, huh. I should check that out, now that I'm thinking of getting a recording setup. [ Reply to This ]
Yeah, Symphony Orchestra... &mdash 01/23/07 - 10:50:26 PM
...is the ticket. JamPack 4 is a powerful software sound package.
After trying so many SoundFonts... And not being able to afford the
Vienna Symphony Sound Library ($5,000.00), JP 4 is a steal!

sweet simplicity... &mdash 01/24/07 - 12:04:21 AM
ah, the days of being a child, when the world was so full of wonder and amazing things... and now we are grown, and the world... is... still so full of wonder and amazing things... like this. Very nice tune, simple, strident, upbeat, I love it. And I can hear the underlying tweaking of many of the flute notes to give it a real-played-performance feel, nicely done... many people don't realize you can't just add JP4 and magically have it sound good, it takes some extra magic, which I see you've done here. If it were me, I would not have the cellos simply mirror the flute notes, I would have the cellos play longer harmonies underneath, so as not to distract from the flute melody. That's about the only suggestion I can make... otherwise, very nice childlike innocence, makes my inner child all snuggly. :-)

Upon listening... &mdash 01/24/07 - 12:39:26 AM
...again, I took a long look at the parallel cello... and I am torn
between adjusting their presense... or leaving it alone.
Being the area that stuck out the most, it probably should be altered.
I appreciate your critique and thank you for giving such a detailed commentary.

Simplicity itself &mdash 01/24/07 - 09:34:44 AM
I enjoyed this. You keep things deceptively simple. Solo line, simple harmony line in the strings and a couple of minor variations that keep you close to the melody. Yet everything is nicely thought out and despite simplicity never predictable. For instance that one sharpened note in the strings harmony line made me perk up. Very nice. [ Reply to This ]
congratulations... &mdash 01/24/07 - 10:07:48 AM
...on winning the Melody Contest for the day!!!
You know how I've always encouraged you to focus in on melodic content in your compositions -- well, you've really DONE it this time!!
This simple, yet engaging piece is nothing BUT melody. It's very catchy, and perfect for the flute.
NOW....I would encourage you to expand this little snippet, add harmonies, counter-melodies, developing it into more of a full-fledged piece.
I feel another "Glorb"-type production coming up for you! ;-)
P.S. Where did you get that bird sound-effect? I need something like that for my upcoming video of my cat (and the birds). [ Reply to This ]
The piece reminds me of something... &mdash 01/24/07 - 01:57:44 PM
I listened to the piece a couple of times and it reminds me of Tchaikovsky, although not any piece of his, just the atmosphere of the piece. The birdsong only added to the piece and gave it, to me, a morning time feel.
I hope, as others have expressed, that there's more of this idea to come.

i agree with several of the posts here that this is a nice start, and i hope you will expand on it!
and i also agree JP4 has some nice synths. there are lots of rather hidden controllers in there that make all the difference. i've spent some time taking apart the loops from JP4 to understand how some of it works. sounds like you may have found them too.
oh, and i like the use of the birdsong effect. although maybe i would back off a little on the amount and/or volume.

Child at heart... &mdash 01/28/07 - 10:28:54 PM
A nice little happy cartoon would go perfectly with this tune. You managed to bring forward this child-like quality of innocent joy and wonder. Wonderful! And I agree with you - I recently listened to Kontakt2 samples (just listened...sigh) but the JamPacks are remarkably good for so much less. It's still your magical hands playing the keyboard though!
