something but I don't remember what is it! Love french speaking (singing). The song is quit good. Good arrangement and performance... Trés bien!!!
blaky smith
Thank you for listening this song and for your comments Craft. Greatly appreciated.
Vic Holman
almost like a lullaby. soothing in arrangement and vocal. good to hear a song from you seems awhile.
blaky smith
Thank you Vic, it's really a pleasure to read this comment from you...
But I need your advice because I find the level of the voice too low, what do you think of it ?
Thanks again...
Marc
Vic Holman
the funny thing is since i do not speak french, your vocal becomes like a instrument, that's probably why i refered to this as a lullaby. yes they can come up a little but not much. believe it or not i'm a grand dad as well. luckiy for me i look and act 10 years younger.

now where's those car keys?
MisterFrap
Sweet melody, a good lullaby for your little angel...
blaky smith
Thank you for this comment. Very much appreciated that you took the time to listen.
Rosita
estellie
I don't know exactly what Rosita said because I don't speak any French, but I think I agree. Your voice has the sober yet caring sound of Gainsbourg's. I'm a fan.
blaky smith
for your comment Estellie and the connection with S. Gainsbourg. Me too, I'm a fan. Thank you to take the time to listen...

I want to chime in here with the SG crowd. This reminds me very much of the French master. Beautiful take on the blues lullaby.
Doadars Uncle
Delecate and attentive. Very nicely done.
Doug
blaky smith
Thank you very much for this nice comment Doug, just as I listen to your tune "in the dust", very good...
jiguma
.... to another, a lovely song. I love the way French lyrics seem to be able to draw out special moods from a piece of music. From a production point of view, I'd possibly raise the volume on your vocals a little, but otherwise this works really well. Clémentine is a lucky little girl to have such a pretty song written about her.
Merci,
Neil
blaky smith
Thanks Neil for your comment. I'm happy to read you.
I agree totally with you about the production, the level of the voice is too low and I realized this problem after my post here, too late...
I have to blame my disloyal headphone (trash tomorrow)... and me.
Thank you again Neil.
Youra
For me, your better song to this day. Great singing, in a national tradition held by guys like Gainsbourg or Daho. Sweet arrangements, bit old-fashionned keyboards and drums, but the charm is here, the melody really beautiful. Beautiful texture in the voice. J'aime.
blaky smith
Ceci dit, ton commentaire me rassure, merci encore...
Kudos...My friend.
Thanks for sharing.
Take care

You and Neil Porter (jiguma) are going to get along just fine!
Once again, great heart... Has an almost Leonard Cohen feel in the delivery...
Your time continues to be great... So all the relatively simple parts fit together seamlessly... I love the bass notes against the piano... I could perhaps hear bringing up the nice arpeggiated chords from what I think is your guitar in the right speaker...
Well, Marc... time to make sure that I don't miss any more of your work...
I see that your family is already letting you know what a cool father/grandfather you are... Even an 'outsider' has to say that this is obvious...
Ed
blaky smith
I find the sense of this word, thank you my dictionary...
And I'm glad you love this song. Once again, thank you very much Ed for your opinion and your nice comment. The third today, you are too kind !
It's encouraging for a grandfather which is learning to play music !
Thanks again...
Marc
thoddi
I don't speak French, but I think I get the meaning of that sentence. I think it can be said about your grandchild, but also your passion for making music.
And from passion comes great art. Like this song. Beautiful work Marc:)
I love this one. I'll have a copy please:)
blaky smith
Thank you very much Thoddi for these kind words.
Great art ! You are really too kind...
I'm glad you like this song. I put the translation on the lyrics...
Marc
Lovely arrangement Marc. Nice vocal delivery. I wish I had a translation of the lyrics. (To my great shame I flunked French in High School.) I really like the organ playing in the middle. Restrained yet effective. Yes...don't be ashamed of your fine singing voice...it CAN come up a little. Bravo!
Be well!

This is a beautiful song, Marc. Can't find a thing I'd change. Realy like the harpsicord peeking through in the background, by the way.

The organ sound is great in your song - reminds me a little of the lilt of an accordian. The lyrics are beautiful too.I find french words very emotional - there is a song called 'Autre Fois' by Pink Martini that is very special also for me - perhaps you have heard it? Thank you for your past comments on some of my songs - its appreciated
blaky smith
You're really too kind. Thanks a million for these lovely comments.

Marc, je ne sais pas comment, mais j'avais presque ratee cette chanson. VERY Gainsbouresque like your daughter mentions right. An absolute delight to my ears. Simple but very effective arrangement and beautiful poetic lyrics. You nailed it with this song, Marc. Great tune.

Full of emotion (lyrically and musically) and the words are sweet. I love the keyboard sounds. I like that organ coming in. I would increase the level of your vocal a little, and maybe pull the harpsichord up a little as well. But what do I know? This is full of soul. Nice work.
blaky smith
Thanks very much for this comment. I'm really glad you like it.

i guess this is the blues, yet it is so uplifting! gentle, very heartfelt. excellent.
i suggest raising the level on the vocals. maybe add a tiny bit of reverb?
thank you!
blaky smith
Thank you very much for this comment.
Yes, I agree about the level on the vocals and I retain this consulting for the next song...

Called by to say thanks for the 'fan-ship' on my last song as I'm still playing catch-up with the artistes on MJ. I listened to this beautiful song and loved your vey French treatment of it both vocally and lyrically. The words are a quite emotional observance of this little girl, which anyone with a small child in their family will recognize. I'm glad I stopped by, Thanks, M
blaky smith
Merci Maurice
Your comment touches me, thank you very much...
Marc
Je vous remercie beaucoup. Je suis illumine! (and that would be about all the French I remember from l'ecole! :-) ) Your song for Clementine is one of the most poignant songs I have ever heard! Your voice is incredibly, "romance language" beautiful! And your lyrics gave me a new perspective full of wonderful light - very poetic and full of insight. I am lost in the moments of your music! Thank you so much for your avatar on my page - I am so honored!!!
En toute amitie,
Carole June
P.S. I finally got around to posting something on my Bio. :-)

.. and beautiful. The pace and phrasing are really something special. In the true "chanteur" tradition, this is a wonderful piece. I love the production and the vocal is captured perfectly.
caroline
your granddaughter is indeed blessed - the french language holds a magic all its own and here it shines like a crystal in the sunlight - blimey - your music has made me come over all poetic - thank you
davisamerica
in visiting here today. trying to keep up is a challenge but with this one it payed off! a hudge fan!!
racerat
Sweet, tender and emotional. The song and arrangement are simple and allow for the emotion of the lyrics to shine through. I don't agree with you that you think the vocals are too low. I think they are about right. You could add a low-cut filter and that would (by cutting out low frequencies that are battling the other lows in the song) separate your vocals and make them more apparent without your having to increase the volume. Just a thought. Nice song. Thank you also for your past comments on my songs....
Best,
Philip
davisamerica
